Cool!  And all done without digital delay, autotune, etc. etc. used to enhance today's vocalists.

On the subject of isolated tracks....

Here's the drums from Zep's "Fool In The Rain"

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=G8cSe7RvqSM

And the bass from The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again"

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=YhmImkKvEDo

Love this stuff.   Just an amazing amount of talent these guys had.  And they're both gone....   Shit.

Sweet smoking Enrique and Jesus, that Marvin Gaye sure could sing.

As I get older and older, Marvin Gaye's massive talent becomes more and more obvious. This is the first time I've heard his voice without the backing tracks, that was just magic. Thanks Elle.

A few years back The Who put out a new and improved version of "Live At Leeds"-  two discs, includes  "Tommy" in it's entirety...    Awesome.

Anyway the drums and vocals are mixed more or less in the middle of the stereo mix, bass more to the left and guitar more to the right.   I usually turn up the bass side a bit to listen to all the stuff  Entwistle was playing.  What a loss....

There is a reissue of "What's Going On" that has various isolated tracks on the "bonus" CD, that are gold.

Back in the late 60's early 70's I saw an Aretha Franklin concert that was a complete disaster- she had a broken leg, I think, and was in a miserable mood and the band was struggling with her and she with them. Finally she sent everyone off and played "Feel Like A Natural Woman" alone at the piano. Just staggering in what she could do all alone.

"I may be old, but I got to see all the cool bands":-)

This is the vocal track to The Beachboys' God Only Knows. A reminder of why Carl Wilson's death stole real talent from the world. This is a beaut, folks.

My Gawd, but Marvin Gaye's voice was a Stradivari! That's a loss to be mourned, still.

The Mercury/Bowie collaboration is an interesting footnote, but didn't really move me like Marvin's voice did. It'd be interesting to find some old Smokey Robinson, Temptations and Otis Redding tracks as well.

I heard that alleged Linda McCartney track a long time ago on the Mark and Brian LA radio show and I'm pretty sure it's a fake, despite wanting to believe it's not.

I'm gonna start searching for more isolated tracks.
