Juan K designed Beneteau 40-something (Because Juan K can't get a job anywhere else after dissing the VOR, and designing death traps in the AC).

 

Actually, does look like that a Beneteau with the cabin top and window config, but the chines are a bit racy for a Ben, but that would make sense for Juan K?

 

Edit: also tell-tale useless Benateau "sprit".

The wood toe rails, furler, and folding transom piece are throwing me off. 

 

I'd like to say that it's a new Beneteau First Series boat, they're about due for a new model......but could also be one of the new C&C drawings, too.

Definitely not... Juan K won't get another job from Beneteau either, after the resounding failure that was the First 30 !!! Announced as the future winner of the Spi Ouest France, with Mich Dej in the design team, heaps of money invested in "improvements" and sails, the boat never made better than mid-fleet in IRC, even with a pro crew... More than a hundred boats sold before the launch. The dealers are having a hard time selling their inventory ever since...

 

OTOH, chines are now a standard at Beneteau, see all recent boats of all ranges : First, Oceanis,...

Looks like it, No sprit though?

cockpit combings & boom are wrong.

 

Shrounds are outboard and the tracks are in so it's something that runs a 105% inside of the swepts

C&C 41 Redline

 

Nice looking boat but a damn shame that C&C have been sold and fractured yet again.

 

Some of the existing C&C's are remaining with Tartan and being re-branded as Tartan models and others like the new 41 are going to US Wartercraft.

 

So whats up with that? Imagine if J-boats decided to split their fleet and sell half their models to Hunter? How would you like to be the proud owner of a Hunter-105, or the race in the Hunter-70 fleet? Wouldn't it be sweet to see an integration of the classic Hunter main sheet roll-bar over top of the steering station on the 105?  Makes you shudder doesn't it? So how does a C&C 115 suddenly become a Tartan 115? 

 

And the best racer/cruiser they ever made, the C&C 99 is now a forgotten memory as it will no longer be promoted by current or past owners. 

 

Will US Watercraft be able to bring C&C back from the brink of extinction or is this just part of a slow and painful death for a once remarkable line of boats? I guess we'll find out.

Dang, like a moth to a flame I've been sucked back into SA and the awesome forums.  Mostly because of the Drew Freides bashing, but I digress...

 

If this is the new C & C, I don't like it.  It looks nothing like a C & C.  C & C's need rakish windows and metal toe rails.  This picture looks like every other Mills design.  Which is fine for a Mills design, but for brand's sake, why not inject some C & C personality in it?

Lovely boat, hoping C&C goes this way, a new 41... loved the old one.  Now, this of course could be a trend up... 41' then 52' then out of anyone's price range.  I just hope we get another classic C&C below 30' like the 27', the line needs something to compete with J/boats new offerings - 70,88, 111.  I personally would love to see the SR line (yes, I know they are Henderson's boats - but man he is a genius!), in the mix.

Agree they do look a little funny on smaller designs especially when the wheels are different colour to the rest of the boat! Twin wheels, are however, very functional, they provide clear passage way to the rear of the boat and a bigger more open cockpit is always nice too. No one wants to walk up around a central pedestal anymore.

It's an Infinity 36 designed by Hugh Welbourn, just over 3,5 tonnes that's why she's floating so high AND comes with DSS

It is not the length that matters but the width. An enormous wheel with a hole in the deck for catching sheets is IMHO less attractive than twin wheels. I like the simplicity of the single wheel, instruments and engine controls but on a wide transom yacht it is not practical.

So I had to read this more then once.... you do know that waterline makes J boats for J boats correct?  As for the models switching from C&C to tartan most people would see that as an upgrade given the recent string of dogs that C&C has put out.  I loved the entire 99-115 line but the boats are dogs, and never had a strong following that I am aware of.  Yes there may have been a small following but not to the level of a 105 or 36.7.  Be glad to name will live on and there will still be factory support.  Anyone willing to make a new boat in this economy is good in my book.

 

as for them making a smaller version I just don't see it happening why would waterline go that route, there just isn't a lot of money to be made in small sailboats in the 28-35' crowd. J boats has it on lock pretty good and I don't think there is enough room in that segment to warrant trying to chase that down.  in five years maybe things will change, but I just don't see it

Looks like a mills design.. it looks almost as a new take on the Landmark 43... Especially the grey'ish topsides and the swing of the coachroof

C&C has had dozens of owners and multiple designers and production facilities since the early 80's.
Throw in some bankruptcies and factory destroying fires. The Tartan/Jackett effort was crappy And I know of more than one
Owner who thought the post purchase support out of Tartan was very poor. The only thing that has kept it going is the exceptionally strong Brand and owner loyalty. I think this new jv can only be positive. (If that thing is a c&c)

I own the newest Tartan 4700 James Gang . The company has been very responsible to deal with. They have been better at follow-up and warranty than any builder of my boats in the past. That includes Swan and Hinckley. Tartan is now a well run and very high quality small boatbuilder . I cannot comment on your friend's experience but mine has been superb and the boat is beautiful.

I've been racing a 99 for a few years now - great boat. Always turns heads and gets comments from others in the Bayview Mac and in Harbor Springs races. Pretty good for a 32 footer!
