What bugs the hell out of me is the State stepping in and trying to negate a contract between private citizens.

One more reason to avoid that flat shit hole.

"Mandrake, have you ever seen a Commie drink a glass of water?"

"Well, no Jack I can't say I have..."

"Did you ever wonder why?  Vodka, Mandrake.  That's what they drink...."

etc etc....   Christ I love that movie.

To those of you who have not seen it yet-  rent and watch "Dr. Strangelove"  IMMEDIATELY.

One of the all-time classics....   General Rippere's discourses on water, fluoridation, bodily fluids, and the purity and essence of said bodily fluids are amazing.  As is the rest of the movie.

Cheers!   Serge

So, what is the essential difference between someone getting knocked up with your sperm through a turkey baster or through a penis? It must be the act of sex itself.

So now Kansas wants to hold people responsible for whatever happens with their sperm wherever it goes, by whatever method. A Monty Python skit is playing in my mind....

I have a question: who handled the syringe with the goo in it? Hold that person responsible.

I must say that in today's changing marriage climate, I'm really liking this statement from the story: "Seeking only a male as a father is discriminating on the basis of gender, Swinnen said.

One more reason to avoid that flat shit hole.

Took two weeks just before Christmas of 72 to visit my family, who had moved to Kansas City the year previously. Hung around a couple days and by the second evening figured, I didn't want to waste anymore of my vacation time there. The next morning I left, knowing that I would never return. The folks left a couple years later as well, and never had a desire to return.

Rick...Rick...RICK!!!!  Are you shittin' me?  Of all people that should see Dr. Strangelove, it's you.  Rent it today.  Just DO IT.

Trust me my friend.  Peter Sellers was marvelous as many characters.  The film is hysterical.

As for the Kansas comments:  I lived there (Overland Park, KS.) from '72-'80.  It was a great place to raise children...Shawnee Mission school district was one of the best in the nation.  Nice people and lots to do.  Weather sucked a lot though.  Don't be so quick to condemn an entire state based on one or two idiot politicians.

Major T. J. "King" Kong: Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff.

The city in the above dialogue was originally Dallas but as the film was released not long after JFK was assassinated they dubbed in "Vegas" instead.   You'll notice it in the scene if you look and listen closely...

From Wikipedia

Sterling Hayden (Gen. Jack D. Ripper) was a genuine adventurer and man of action, not dissimilar from many of his movie parts. He dropped out of high school at the age of 16 and took a job as mate on a schooner. His first voyage was to Newport Beach, California from New London, Connecticut. Later, he was a fisherman on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, ran a charter yacht, and served as a fireman on eleven trips to Cuba aboard a steamer. He skippered a trading schooner in the Caribbean after earning his master's license, and in 1937 he served as mate on a world cruise of the schooner Yankee. After serving as sailor and fireman on larger vessels and sailing around the world several times, he was awarded his first command aged 22, skippering the square rigger Florence C. Robinson 7,700 miles from Gloucester, Massachusetts, to Tahiti in 1938.

As OSS agent John Hamilton, his World War II service included sailing with supplies from Italy to Yugoslav partisans and parachuting into fascist Croatia. Hayden, who also participated in the Naples-Foggia campaign and established air crew rescue teams in enemy-occupied territory, became a first lieutenant on September 13, 1944, and a captain on February 14, 1945. He received the Silver Star (for gallantry in action in the Balkans and Mediterranean; "Lt. Hamilton displayed great courage in making hazardous sea voyages in enemy-infested waters and reconnaissance through enemy-held areas"), a Bronze Arrowhead device for parachuting behind enemy lines, and a commendation from Yugoslavia's Marshal Tito. He left active duty on December 24, 1945.

I took his book "The Wanderer" on the Transpac with me. Great read.

So Kansas goes after sperm donor on a technicality and specifically claims to be doing so in defense of "Family Values".

The first part seems normal, the seconds makes me question if the state would be pursuing the case, if the couple in question had been legally recognized.

Sucks to be the donor in an ass backwards state.

Well we may have it all wrong, by family values Kansas may just mean pressuring lesbian couples into awkward threesomes or rather pretending to be straight, if they want kids, then divorcing out of a marriage based entirely on socially pressured lies.

sheesh, where is Marcus Bachman to pray the gay away and marry this poor girl to the donor!!!

In my family acceptance of others for who they are, respect for their views, unconditional love, support when the rest of the community fails them, are things we are driven to by our values.

A large percentage of the time, it seems organizations who claim to be pro American, or supportive of values are anti American and espouse behaviors my family finds to be abhorrent

My family lived in Overland Park as well and my younger siblings went to school in the Shawnee Mission school district. As a matter of fact my father said they moved there because of the school district and upscale neighborhoods. AFAIC it didn't even compare to the NW for beauty, and it didn't have any mountains or salt water sailing close by. But I'm quite sure if one likes living in quaint neighborhoods with good school districts, it's a great place to raise a family. I've always preferred a rural setting on some acreage.
