A bit of a drifter today in the DFW area. Did you get a practice race in?

That is depressing. Beautiful day too. Are you sure you don't feel a kidney stone materializing?

Nice work Rob D.  @ Bitter - didn't make it up but heard a lot of good things about how the event was run.   Kudo's to rush creek.  That place is primed for a VX fleet.

Since you have your ear to the ground, do you know about how many VX Ones are in the DFW area?

Thanks Ultra.  A great time was had by all.

There are 2 VX's at RCYC right now.  Plenty of local interest was generated this weekend.

Plus a boat in Belton and another one in Oklahoma City.

There are already 5 VX One's on the way to Oklahoma in March, when the next batch of boats will be arriving in the US. Leaving them with a total of 6 boats in OKCBC; so in absence of any new owner in the DFW/OK area from now until March we will have 9 boats. We are already planning on the  2014 Circuit.

We all had a great time. Good racing and the event was possible thanks to a ton of volunteer work from Rush Creek Yacht Club members and the support of our sponsors.

Thanks Ultra.  A great time was had by all.

Find a group of people in your area and start building interest. We would have been happy if we had gotten three boats ordered but now we have 5 headed our way. Instant fleet!

It would have been so much better, but the sun was not out (color got washed out), and he was having a couple of technical issues. The original plan was for him to get a couple of the starts and weather roundings.

This video is great. Clearly the wave of the future of videoing sailboat racing. A lot of fun.

Did I hear a rumor that there will be many more opportunities for this fella to video VX ones racing around rush creek in the near future?

@ultra

There might have been an email sent out...the wifey made it very clear that our Family will have to sell one of the 3 before getting one.  Honestly, the Olson 30 is not going anywhere, the Flying Scot is a great fleet 5 minutes from the house, so that's not going anywhere...that leaves me with the Melges...and I don't think I want to trade in the Donkey for a VX, but it is not off the table.

I know there are a couple of people very interested in the VX at Rush Creek, and if I know them, there is going to be another couple of VX's there in the next year.

This drone is not going to be classified as anything more than a "Hobby".  It's too small and it's range is very limited.

Cool video, cool boats, but did y'all hear all that grinding noise they were making in the middle? Not sure I trust hardware that sounds like that...

Oh, wait, you mean that was the...music...?

Cool video...will the thing fly here in SF Bay...25+ TWS? Wondering what the limitations are to the drone.

Have you tried a water based platform power boat with a large enough deck for launching and recovery? I've been quietly watching the FPV development since the early days. Way back in a prior life I was the flight instructor at our RC field one summer I put 15 new members in the air without a single loss of a plane. Of course that was before electrics. I tried one of the first electrics when they surfaced 550 motor with a 7.2Volt Ni-cad pack basically just RC car gear slapped into an air frame flight time was about 4 minutes LOL. Just blows my mind what is taking place with the FPV and electric systems on board now.

I am not sure 25+TWS and this drone mesh.  This thing is only about 20 inches long.
