I've always been a believer in the 4 D's to accomplish a goal. Dream, Desire, Dedication, and Discipline. The Desire, Dedication, and the Discipline are what support the Dream and make it come true. Without one or more of these foundations, you can't accomplish the end goal, the Dream.

It is with a sad heart and tears in my eyes, that today I am announcing that I am retiring from Olympic sailing.

One of life's harshest lessons is that nothing lasts forever - you've succeeded way beyond most peoples dreams - feel proud & satisfied, not sad.

Bummer.  Hell of an athlete.

I am told she has a new BF, and between that and her real love of the intensity of the Cross-fit competitions she is so deep in, sailing didn't stand a chance.

Good luck, Anna.

Interesting considering the article in the "new look" Sailing World that just came out. She mentions that she is based out of the sailing Mecca of Pittsburgh.

Congrats on an awesome career thus far!

Not the same boat, but same circle - I'm sure Maggie and Kristen will carry the torch! Chatted w/ Annie Haeger practicing 470 out of my home club a couple months ago too!

We've still got a pretty nice quiver of awesome women sailors...

She says she's not leaving sailing totally, which is great. Im sure her influence and knowledge will not be lost on the current olympic lot!

She's retired from "Olympic sailing". Not from sailing, and not from life itself, unlike the close friend that I've just escorted through a Stage 4 carcinoma diagnosis. So pardon the fuck out of me if I consider this bit of "news" about on par with the Kardashians changing clothes.

Amazing athlete. Best of luck to her in the crossfit world. I would bet she wins the next world games. She is just that good.

And she will leave us with an unforgettable set of sailing photographs.

Not too long ago our sailing club made her an honorary member.  She sailed at our place as a youngster.

May she have fair winds and gently flowing seas.

Sure, we live in a time where people post information about their personal lives on the internet as if everyone cares:  no this is not the a stage 4 carcinoma diagnosis nor is it a Kardashian update either.

SA is one place where this personal news about Anna T is interesting and people do care.  I am looking forward to see where her sailing experience will lead her.
