Excellent, thanks.

One question about the video, why is the dude on the floor instead of using the table and chair right next to him?

Some of the really over the top ultralight gear ski mountaineers use these.

Mountaineers aren't acclimated to civilization.

, they set their stove on rocks, build windbreaks outa moar rocks, to shield the stove,

, an then sleep in a pile of rocks.

It's a cute hombrew,,

,although too fragile to live very long and dependent on alcohol.

but if you're doing stuff where you end up sleeping in rocks,

,  get a Svea

http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B000XZ5FDY

"White gas,, Coleman fuel ,, much easier to find & <$

I tink higher energy density

The beer can has very wide flame distribution,

Svea is more focused @ ctr, to use smaller pots

it's a bit heavier than beer can, ,

reliable, reliable, reliable, reliable.

Over on Facebook, anarchist MisterMoon commented that it's a bit too easy to spill for use on a boat, something that crossed my mind as well. A flowing fire on a boat would be bad.

Here is another variation on the theme. http://www.jureystud...veinstruct.html I made one several years ago and they work pretty well. I know some ultralight backpackers that use these or the manufacturered versions http://www.vargooutd...ing-stoves.html

If it's worth having one for a backup, it's worth having 12. Or 24.

On a side note, I see plenty of opportunity in waiting, there, for practising some remote first aid or even field-expedient suturing.

Even on land it needs to be level.

you really can never have enough raw materials waiting around to be made into more stoves.

In either case, needs a super light weight one of these.  http://www.basspro.c...t/23674/?cmCat=

Like a ring stand with two levels, one for the burner one for whatever is being burned. Pound it into the ground, cook away. Maybe a tent pole with two separable rings?

I gave it a shot, but my knife wouldn't go through the bottles. I must've had the wrong kind of spare stoves on hand.
