We can't announce who guesses it right at this point, but first correct guess - which team and which brand - wins SA swag. Have fun.

How could there be any new sailmakers per se in the Cup since each program has their own in house sail designers and sailmakers. North has been supplying blanks to the syndicates, built to the in house designers specs, for the last three cups. All they really need to do is get some type of blank membrane in house that they can finish to their specifications. It would be a very expensive proposition to create their own membrane process since it might only be a 3 year program so it only makes sense they would have their membranes produced elsewhere and they construct and finish them in house. This protects their design info and allows them to have blanks on hand that can be assembled quickly and easily for replacements or test shapes. D4 has the best record to date on this type of construction and sizes so why wouldnít all the syndicates go to D/P and have blanks made that they can finish themselves?

OutLeader kites (by KiteShip; http://www.kiteship.com) MIGHT be illegal under v.5 rules:

"All sails shall be set with their heads in close proximity to the mast."

However, see the Oxford English Dictionary (per IACC rules) for the definition of "set" and of "close proximity." In 2003 the official IACC rules intrepeter determined that "set" refers to the act of "setting" a sail; as differentiated from "flying" said sail. OED suggests that "the Moon is in close proximity to the Earth."

So you tell me; is anyone playing with kites for the 2007 AC?

Do you work for North?.

It is the design that is most important, and if the designs are in house to each team, and not just North designers, I think it would be good for the sport to see some some Fusion M or Ultra etc on the water.

wasn't the north sails monopoly the cup that TNZ won two cups ago. Thought the Omohundro mast wouldn't accept anything but a custom North luff tape. I could be wrong though....

as a matter of fact it comes from Norberto "Norby" MŁhle and my avatar is the chinese ideogram for thunder, which happens to be my nickname (in portuguese, since i'm a brazilian sailor, "trov„o") among my sailing community due to, let's say, the "tone" of my voice.

Well, the China Team used a UK Halsey D4 main and 2 headsails. Musicman designed them, he'll probably post some shots as some point if someone bugs him to do it.

Hi,

I think it's the Germans! They recently startetd their training with old sails. If they had subscribed with North we would have heard it in GER! Maybe its SobstrŲm 'cause Jesper Bank worked there in former times. Maybe it's Quantum, 'cause Albert Schweizer is the Local Hero in Hamburg where most of the German AC stuff is is situated.

>The local hero Albert does not sell Quantum sails any more, and it was often wise to do things different from others to get a chance to improve.
