worry about TY self righting and sinking

I'll take positive bouyancy any day over self-righters that SINK , keel first I suspect

Is there any point of being upright when you hit the bottom ? or is it just a feelgood thing ?

GS, it's common knowledge that my boats Self-righting, however it can't sink not with 3 Watertight compartments and Cedar Cored construction.

Bit of a narrow minded statement just quietly.

shout it out then, btw i didn't mention your boat as an example ?

a load of self righters would sink like a j24, your mast, boom, 5 headsails, 2 poles and keel would go a good fair way to overcoming the cedar's postive flotation I suspect

yeppers, sportsboats that actually float .. positive flotation, as your r/c colleague Doug would say, 'it's a revolution, it's the future and the future is here now, join the revolution' , hmmmm

For a small fee of coarse. But fuck nowhere is not true. Canaipa is a cracker spot with pool, dunnies showers and BBQ's. They put a beer tent up as well.

We normally sail the boat down Friday arvo, so camp on the boat Fri night and Sat night.

BTW $1000 lucky boat prize. Gotta be init to win it haha. Be good to get a proper T7 up here to show Slapper which way to go haha.

Don't talk about me and hatches.

1st one blew off coming back from Batemans Bay a year ago
2nd fell off, as you saw, coming back from Batemans Bay this year and was in the cockpit, saved
We then put a saddle on it with some shockcord so it couldn't blow off
Then at the Bay to Bay it was in the cockpit and when Ben and Kate were going to bed they knocked it and it slid out the back and drifted off in the tide and sank.

Now onto my third hatch, luckily Cameron had made a spare

Conditions varied over the weekend from 5 - 25 knots and wind all over the compass. The Barney Army went full cruising mode, and stacked the rail with 5 adults and 2 kids. A bit cosey below overnight. We all had to rotate below for every one to have there late night piss. We had a big storm hit at 8pm with many boats drifting anchor around us. We tied to a massive mangrove tree so we were safe. Plenty of rain made for less than comfortable times. Once the storm passed though it was ashore to get onit and join in the talk it up cup which goes on, especially for the line honors boat haha. ;) ;)

25knots from the west made for a looooong beat back to Manly, but with plenty of rail meat we made it without too many dramas. 5 and a half mins behind the Magoo we were happy. Very wet and cold initeation for our young French friend, she did not say much the trip home.

It was good for Raptor to sit out this weekend as it gave another boat a chance at getting a prize. :P :P

Didnt it blow on sat night! Was expecting to see the Magoo gone in the morning going by the wind that was flattening the dome tent we were in that night! Reports of over 70knots at the inner beacon, bloody windy!

Sundays race was just another bloody windy, forward of the beam race, shit i think we have had enough of those up here this year!

So who are the Qld contingent coming down to do the HcW this year - "Rolls", "Barney", "Slapper" ??

Just remember it's going to be out of Toronto this year, which is closer to the Expressway btw so you've got ample time to get your Accommodation sorted.

Will have to think about that at a closer time i think! Its hard enough for us to keep out of trouble in our own back yard during daylight, let alone going round and round in your dam down there without getting stuck somewhere!

Will be there for sure if a sponsor jumps on board, Rum is so bloody expencive now that they are classed as "Alchopops"!

It's a plan to run SMS in parallel with TCF, so those that are rated will have 2 bites at the cherry, however O'all will again be TCF. We have started to collect a huge amount of Data on boats that have entered previously.

I'd like to get my boat measured but I'm just about it for Sportsboats up here aside from Stealthy, and I can't afford to get it done on my own.

The Stealthy V Team G.U.E battle will be worth every bit of the admission. ;)

Sorry mate, while I really enjoyed the race last year on Rolls Ross, this year its on the same weekend as the St Helena Cup, SEQ's biggest race of the year and we will be doing that. At this stage I hope to have the boat down at Toronto for the E7 States. Not sure if my regular crew will be there though as the skiff season is in full swing and they have obligations there. As you know the fun tickets only stretch so far :( :(

our boat got picked up by the boys off Vanishing Point as it floated past. we looked like dickheads when we got in the taxi and couldn't find our boat.

It was a bit strange when we looked out the window & saw the anchor light go passed at about 4 knots so we jumped in the tinny and retreived it just in time. At about 4 in the morning we had to move the cat it had dragged the anchor aswell & the Turtle was on the bottom not much fun when your still half pissed.

thanks again for your help, and let me tell you it is no fun at 11.00pm when you are fully pissed  We couldn't tell if we had dragged the next morning after moving as none of us could remember whrere we had dropped anchor.

Bugger, I tried not to have the HCW compete with the St Helena Cup, buggers changed the date on me. :(

Oh well, in a strange twist the HCW will be the first 23 hour 24hour Yacht Race with daylight saving set to start in the wee small hours of Sunday morning. Classic.

Keep Thurston shift Hunt and run Prince. Shift Falou to the other wing Tate to the bench and hunt on the wing. Drop lilyman from the team. no need for him Smith is an 80min player.

Bring Price back ditch Webb. Miles to be in the run on side.

Karmuchael Hunt to be a "super sub" impact player formthe bench.

PJ Marsh can carry the oranges - useless at SOO level.

Prince definitely required onthe field.

Tate can take a long walk off a short plank and let Falou play in position.

Personally I reckon Thurston can only play about every 15 min, he can play but only when he feels like it. Prince and Thurston together and they are going to get a hiding, look at all the work Hunt did, and he was still trying in attack. The only way they can move Hunt out of there is if the big bad protector of halves comes back. Tate wasn't all bad out there, if he had better service it gould have been different, and Folau should be there.

Hunt to fullback Slater to the left and Folau right, Thurston and Prince and then just go for the tries and stop letting the Blues have their way. Keep scoring and they won't be able to roll over the halves.

We had a great doy yesterday for the combined clubs race 7. It was good fun playing with Raptor after the start, not sure why they wanted to play with us when the E7.8's were showing them a clean pair of heals. The also showed their tactical prowess by trying to sail to leeward of a IOR Davidson 40. When they finally dicided to sail behind them they took off like a rocket and quickly led the fleet around Hopes. We sailed around Peel at dead low tide and were a bit worried about hitting Magoo's Reef as the depthsounder gave up the ghost. It wasn't until the beat home that the wheels fell of the Barney Army crew as we sailed straight into a massive hole and 6 boats passed us. :( We did get 4 back and Speed on his T650 was one of them yippee. We had a small drama coming up to the finish as we ran out of beer. The rums were tasty though. ;)
