Results are up from day 2 of the sportboat saturday series, races 3 and 4! http://results.rqys....tsat/series.htm Race 4 will change as peow was miles ahead again but for some reason there has been a timing glitch! Unless they did miss something!

Constant rain all day, about 15knots of wind and constant rain! Close racing for the selfrighting boats, the gaggle finishing places were allways decided on the last run! Having the finish in about 6 foot of water made it real interesting, with i think everyone smacking the bottom behind the line! 7 boats out there this time.

Was a good day, with the rain just making it interesting!

Overall results are now up from the sportboat saturday series weh had here in brisbane!

Last day light winds and shallow water, boats hitting bottom as crossing finish line made it interesting, and starts, couldnt go too low of the line and risk getting stuck!

Race 5 we got stuck on the bottom mark even though we were 8 feet off it (didnt protest ) and the 30 footer miss judged the clearance top mark and had to reround, thats why results are a little out! Peow without the heavy weights on board still had the pace in the light breeze, but were closer!

Race 6, once the boats that took more than 2 boat lengths to drop a kite got off the mud, was light as well, bloody close race between the M24, Shaw, 30 footer and us! Nearly got to the finish before the shaw for a change but the 30 footer decided to get its shit together on the last run and blanket us which put pay to that! Big kite on that thing!

The bookies wouldnt accept any money on the final result, what with a M and Shaw there the writing was already on the wall!

Well done to the Peow which had different skipper each race i think and the M24 which was 1st and 2nd!

Was a good event, bar the shallow bits, and starting the Sportboats last and with a little longer leg than the etchells and skiffs, contenders, hobie's and what ever else was out there worked well, didnt seam to go anywhere near the other fleets even though we all shared the same bottom gate!

Looking forward to doing it once a month for the whole next season if it happens!

Just a minor correction to your post. Rob Shaw has asked me to see if we can line up an Aus buyer for his sensational 9m "Karma Police" but she is still in Auckland NZ, not here in Melbourne.
Rob and I will both be at Airlie Beach Race Week, he on a Shaw 650, me on a (leadmine) X-35 so interested parties can form an orderly queue at the beer tent, there to commence meaningful negotiations.

Afternoon storm today, 70+ knots recorded at the coast guard near entrance of the harbour! Of course just as a 50+ wags fleet was comming in harbour! Perfect timing!

All crew ok, couple of boats with minor damage, glad we were just 50m from jetty when it started to hit, got real wet, and lost a nearly full can of Rum!

sunday a repeat of last year SSW 10knts spinnaker start for all divs. very square after Ungowa with varying angles and strength and then tight to the top of Woody with som extra pressure. boats got caught with the sweeping tide across the sandbar at the turning mark and were carried into shallow water Attitude was stuck for a while lucky the lads had there crane last year No Limits were stuck for a long time it help me when Nervous got carried in too

Made the fists steps this week - put As-If into an industrial shed ready for tidy-up and have cancelled the hardstand at RQ. Currently building a steel frame so we can lift it off the trailer and keel and wheel it around.
Have listed it on Boatpoint yesterday - so will see what interest we get.

Well a beautiful day out on the bay today, with a potential buyer for a T7, now that his boat has been banned for eternity from sportboat races, but he wasnt prepared for the blinding speed of an old school, overweight non SMS rater under full flight in a non spinnaker race!

Well he is tucked into bed at the Manly hotel, safe from the prowling cougar bro's and wynnum chicks below in the beer garden!

He has had a double dose of Queensland cordial, fresh from the aged square bottle!

Have a good rest, and hope the heart rate is down to a normal level in the morning petal!

Boats that don't carry an Assymetric kite are banned. - That means E7's are banned.

However they have kindly said we can apply for an exemption to have the honour of racing with them for two years, we are still banned but allowed to play. I don't think a magic 25 with a symmetrical was granted the same don't know why.

I have to thanks Slapper for stopping me from considering a sportsboat in the future as they are really fast and scary to sail, As you can see I was TERRIFIED. I am now happy that the E7 better suits me as it is so slow and boring and more to what I am used to.

Now why would i want an E7? If only exempted for as some say, for only 2 years? And as far as im aware, havnt been granted it yet! The T7's and rest of the heavy boats will be banned next!

Gob Shit - you must understand that getting a SMS rating doesn't get you into the exclusive ASBA club, unless they invite you and you aren't a threat.

The E7 has no problems getting an SMS rating, it is however not eligible to race in regatta's where the class is required to comply to the ASBA definitions.

I know you are alluding to the fact we are shit sailors, but we enjoy licking windows and still go out there and compete and have a ball each race, but the novelty of spending the money as others do but for a shit result is wearing off!

Will be in Perth about early August

There are 2 sports boat races at SoPYC during August.
The first is on Sunday the 5th, the second on Sunday the 18th.

We are a little early, currently camped at Cliff head about 20 kms south of Dongara. Meeting a mate at a NP just north of Perth Friday Night. Will be in town Sunday sometime. The west coast is an amazing part of the Australian coastline. A must do/ see in my eyes. Looking forward to the South West scenery, not the temperatures.

I gotta say you are mental to sail in this weather. With a max of low teens, rain and effing windy you can shove this part of the world where the sun don't shine. Mind you the scenery, speccy. I have never had so many hot drinks in my life, oh and the rum always seems to be empty. Gimme the sunshine state anyday.
