its this big round thing that goes near the back of the boat, alternative to tiller steering, some of the Archambault 35's have them...

Ah, I always wondered what that was! And here I was thinking it was some kind of beer dispensing device.

But I'm pretty sure there's no wheel involved on this ride, but a beer dispenser would be nice.

Full factory as far as I am aware. There was a 2nd boat with mods that did Transpac 07.

Predictions are always dangerous. Nothing like setting yourself for criticism when you fail to achieve. Having said that boat is 4ft longer than a Mumm 30 or a Bull 9000, has a bigger sail plan and is not much heavier. Time will tell.

If anyone is down Toronto way on Sunday and wants to support our "000" services, join in our Champagne breakfast, very social race around Pulbah Island and charity auction at the end with asociated social activities.
Starts 0900hrs with the breakfast followed by an enjoyable day to raise money for the organisations that help us in our hours of need. :) :)

I believe the chopper will be there but Rog is land & water bound. There are rumours he may be acting out a Pirate routine. Lots of novelties going on in the background.

I'd pay $85 or $90K for such a boat, maybe more depending on survey. A tough old warhorse like that with a gift rating, new rig and new carbon wardrobe - a bargain at that price.

Disappointing! Vego
Do you know what happened to "Wings"?
BB said they were coming to play.
Considering the invitation went out to all clubs it seems again that support for other yacht clubs has gone by the wayside
A big thanks to all that did come out.
Weather probably had an impact but I didn't realise there were so many fair weather sailors around! :o

Interclub R.K Robertson on next week ending at Wangi sailing club.
Always a good social atmosphere provided by the club afterwards and plenty of hard fought tussles on the water.
Usually a downwind finish.

I am sitting here with steel rods sticking out of my toes after an operation a week ago. I went in the overnighter last week and pulled out with a foot that swollen beyond recognitio0n and my drug supply depleted. Will see how I am later this week...but doubtfull....guess sailing is not what the surgeon meant by bed rest.

Haven't heard of any tongues wagging so spill the beans.

Shipping schedules changing by the day. Changing ships in Durban (South Africa). Arriving approx 16 or 26 January 08
New Fathom? Bigger? quicker? - than a Sydney 39CR?

Whatever happened to

Matika II (Nev Hines) (numerous sydney hobart entrant)
The Sweeney
Tobacco Road
Grounds For (F37)
Piccles
Christopher rabbit

which were at LMYC in the early 80's?

No idea. From memory Tobacco Road (flush desk Adams 11.9?) was the gun boat in it's day. Had a feeling the Sweeney might have been a Farr 11.6. Piccolo of course was the Farr 1104 that won Hobart in the mid to late 70's.

Fathom and a Northshore 34, looks like the pulpit and all stanchions on the port side will need to be replaced, as well as a decent whack about where the drive would sit

Right on from memory.
"Tabacco Road " was owned by John Towner? think it went North. Used to have a hell of a stink with XPT (adams 13?) back in those days. "Styx" may have still been around in those days too?
"The Sweeney" was a Farr 11.6 owned by John Church. Think it only left LMYC in recent years? (Ali Baba, & Quo Vardis also used to be in the lake, all 11.6's)
Matika II from memory was Nev's boat prior to owning "Grounds For" (divorce!) Great looking burgundy yacht.
Piccles would have to be "Piccolo"
And "Christopher Rabbit" went down on Alice!? :o

Looks like our chances will be in our division only with winds behind us. But as everyone is saying, tactics are really going to be a major influence. The book will be open right to the end I imagine.
Cheers :)

3 months later, several shipping cancellations and serious issues with the local RTA the 1D35 has finally arrived. CB (co-owner), TDribble and myself were at Marmong this arvo as "Hippie Chick" appeared. Should be out on the water by Sunsail.

Good to hear Vego, always a good feeling when they're finally yours to play with, after your shipping woes it sounds like we got extremely lucky with how smooth ours went. What were the issues you had with the RTA?? they might not like sumthing we're planning either

Have heard about 2 possibilities for the new Fathom, 1 could be faster, the other could be a step backwards in terms of speed, you guys going to join the latter part of the pointscore and the full thing next year?

Going to stick with the etchell for rest of season. Looking at Sunsail, Sydney / Crowdy head / Newcastle and friday nights with the new boat. Unlikely to be ready for LMYC Pittwater offshore. No decisions about next year yet. Towing company was stopped twice by the RTA over 2 days trying to leave the docks at Glebe island. The first time was not allowed to continue because for inadequate signage. The second time had to modify trailer to reduce mast overhang at the rear.
