We are definitely in on Austral
It's not so much the racing but the cause and the social conatations.
Wangi always put on a great day it is really worth taking the time to go over and support this event. Lot's of fun and very enjoyable.
I hope to see a lot of you there if you can make it.
It's disappointinting to see the patronage of recent event like 30 milers etc.

Happy to go head to head with the Sayer. I would have thought would be a reasonable form line. Weather however doesn't look promising. Not looking forward to a long work South in 25+. Ride back will be a different story. Mick = Chucky or MM?Mick are you racing on a Sayer if so lets put a jug on over the line. You shouldnt be so hard on davo, if its blowing they might hit 11kts downhill. Now thats a true white knuckle ride.

It's Chucky!
If we hit 11knots which I say we will, and go to windward as well as I expect.
Gorn, you guys better sail well because as it is a h'cap race I'd say we will go okay. I just hope 20-25knts doesn't keep you guys in your PJ's and slippers and you get out there!

Went out 1hr prior to the start on Saturday. Loaded up on main sheet and vang and the main shat itself. Pulled the clew out. By the time I'd driven home and grabbed a replacement we missed the start by 1/2 hr or so. Just testing against the others when you saw us. Today was probably a better indication as to where we are. Seemed to have good speed and height when near Frantic. Made one poor call downwind and let him past. Tried to carry the Farr 40 chute on a tight angle. Had to dump and 2 sail to the mark. In less pressure hopefully we can say closer to Wal.Whats the story there Vego?? last time i saw you guys on saturday you were running 2nd to Wallop, main looked pretty intact from where i was watching, also see that you dont mention in the individual race results but your down in the series results, wats the go there?

Poorly - as evidenced by the handicap result yesterday. We were giving start to all bar Wal. Considering it was our first run we were happy with the finish. While we will undoubtedly get better you have to remember the boat is 35ft long. It is always going to be difficult to hang in with the Sydney 41 uphill. Boats like Frantic and maybe Squid are our benchmark. Incidently looking at the division one fleet from the outside I didn't realise how quick Squid can be.i guess the other question that must be asked is how did you fare against the handicapper??

Vego
For what it is worth the Sydney database had us at about 1.23 and the OD35 at 1.11 so I would expect that you should get around 11% on a Farr 40. What speed did you get upwind in 20+ on Saturday?. Did you do any downwind stuff?.

Was not a bad regatta but should not have hit the piss so hard Saturday night..fark when will I learn?
#230
Posted 03 March 2008 - 05:51 AM
Speedo still needs calibration so hard to get an exact figure. Targets indicate we should get a max of 7.25knots in 20+ uphill. Only used one design chutes when testing on Saturday. Are way too small for PHS. On Sunday went with a Farr 40 fractional which is a perfect fit. Boat really came alive.Vego

another bump and reminder about the Cruise for Cancer at Wangi on Sunday,Champagne breakfast at 10(need to inform the club how many ppl you have coming so they can cater accordingly), race start is at 12:30, entry fee is $5 per boat and $10 per crew member, you can enter at the club on the day, looking forward to seeing as many boats possible there
I hope it's even more successful than last year, which was great I believe....Psssst can you still bribe the Handicapper - all for a great cause of course.

- Twin Wheels ( must be fast )
- Last seasons go fast hull colour ( could be new season colour on the lake)
- Mast head rig (WTF!)
Seriously, looks more of a challenge to the big Benny or Dufours than the F40, though I am willing to be corrected.

SRB has been hauled out and is back at the owners place in the shed. Not sure if they have started fixing her yet or what the plan is to get her back on the water but I'm sure it will be.
Absolutely bizarre to see her sunk in the middle of Toronto bay with two crew members on her overturned hull.

Komodo will most likely go back in the water around the end of july - middle of August, we have the bowsprit and assy, we take it off each week when we finish racing so it doesnt get chopped to shit by the mooring lines, would be good to race Lobby, the channel is the main issue tho, its a serious job getting in and out these days so we'll see how that plays out
Just enough time to fit a centreboard!
Might be more of a reality than the channel getting fixed any time soon.

Haven't heard it being sold but I understand it was always the intent to sell it once it got to Oz???
#259
Posted 30 June 2008 - 03:44 AM
Not sold, at this point anyway. The original plan was to campaign 07/08 then sell. Unfortunately with shipping delays boat didn't show up until Jan. Missed most of the season.Haven't heard it being sold but I understand it was always the intent to sell it once it got to Oz???
Plan at the moment is to continue with the occasional Sat at RMYC over the winter. If we have the boat will then look at Savilles, Coffs, Audi etc . Hopefully won't be too many clashes with etchell events.

I was out the channel last weekend in my power boat and it looked so so shallow i hit bottom few times just off the markers between drop over and pelican. That streach of water is the worst i have ever seen it. I saw when i was there about a 36 foot cruising yacht (would draw fuck all) on its side way over stuck for ages going no were. The channel is FUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So what of the channel scraping? Finished? Has anyone tried to get out recently?
