The official website.
Some good stuff from the RCYC here.
And you can check out the tracking here.

We really want to hear about the tracking most of all. Let us know how it's working so we can really improve it!

Another link for weather. This is the aviation forecast at the island airport, about 3 miles from the race course. They are a little more detailed than the marine forecast for some reason.

OK try this

My bad.

Spoke with a guy in Toronto and he indicated that the weather was starting to ramp up.

Should be a great day to watch a Match race from my office. cold over there @ RCYC

I have the fan on in my office...just for the breeze...

Should be interesting if the breeze comes on. Might point more toward boathandling. HB typically likes more breeze.

I Agree, I think boathandling should favor HB. Wonder what the weights come in at for both boats?

I have a little buzz from the tequila last night but thats about it

looking at the forecast hb should lay the smack down. i am very skeptical though if bob wins this that he will be able to change the event to what he is claiming he wants to do. I dont think the canadians will go for it.

RC team shelled out a significant amount of money to bring in some big names, I think it is too little too late, but i could be totally wrong.

It is funny they have a really nice official website but no one has took the time to enter any team info.

OK, just got off the phone with Clean and the transmitters/tracking will be activated before the starts only - costs some satellite $$$ to have it on all the time.

It will be on for the duration of the race and off for the night. On again before the race starts tomorrow and so on.

Keep checking.

Tracker will go live at the start - Jerry is putting in a short delay so that it's smooth, but once running, it should be sending posi updates every 15 seconds or so, with accuracy to a meter. That's why I'm here. The breeze died down to 12 or so, but the clouds are building and we expect the breeze to as well. Tomorrow is looking even heavier.

Alright - we are rolling to the start on a cold bastard of a morning. I got a PM from Maddog this morning - he finally realized that i was in TO, and typed his laughter that the escapee from the tundra was back on a lake in mid-october.

I went to sleep at 7 AM this morning, having worked on the front page article, the press release, and the stupid website all night long. I got 40 minutes of sleep, so forgive me if I'm a little spacy.

Pics are on their way of the morning.

This will be up on the cancuplive.com site tonight, with pics and bios. Sorry for taking too long, but we just got hired for this thing about four days ago!

Alex Krstajic - Helm
Gavin Brady - Tactician
Cameron Dunn
Jon Ziskind
Ian Nowell
Dave Jarvis
Rossi Milev
Ian Hogan
Rob Fox

I'm not sure about those last two - they made their final selections yesterday at weigh-in. There guys who could be on instead of the last two are Hugh Beaton, Matt Johnston, Rob Emery, Kevin Stittle.

I'll see if I can get more. There's a link on the RCYC.CA site under regattas>Canada's Cup that may be updated. Feel free to put it up here for the benefit of the viewers.

Tim -It's going to be auto-zooming for now, the closer they get the closer they'll zoom. We'll see how it works today, and if manual is preferable we'll change it back to that.

Someone else asked about the girl on Heartbreaker - that's Becky Damore, sails on Team Gill and I think a Mumm program - from Annapolis. We sailed with her in Ocean City, NJ - solid sailor, but only in the game a couple of years. Ted Etheridge, partner of BH in this cup (funded it), was meant to sail, but he was too heavy for the crew, so Becky got the call.

Little update - Jerry's guy Russ is having a stupid issue with the transponders - since the time is still set on west coast, they've got some shit happeing where it won't update because it things it's history. Getting it fixed...and prestart is only a few seconds away!

hmm bob got someone to fund it with the promise of going sailing. then cant make weight with him onboard and gives him the boot!!! Classic! So they must have been doing some good math there to have to take a little girl versus an adult male hahaha

Just trying to help... Which is usually disastrous.

I'm sure it will get fixed shortly, but maybe a dress rehearsal from dock for a few minutes the next time a day in advance.

As opposed to the dress rehearsal that we did walking around TO at 4 AM - there's always something you forget. Sit tight, these guys are the best in the biz. Trust me ;)

Heartbreaker has got wheels baby. Big wheels! They're off to the right now, split by a quarter mile with Honour. Kinda curious why Dave D wouldn't cover...

Amazing that BH still hasn't learned that lesson. He lost the 2001 Cup for BYC by splitting on the last leg.

Unbelieveable!!!

Honour gets a big shift and pressure, and rounds the mark 45 seconds ahead of HB. Why didn't he cover!!!!

You can actually see the tracker bugging out as Russ is playing with it to fix it. I am stunned that HB just let that happen. Stunned.

This one just finished - I think it's the actual start. The pre-start is longer, still loading. Be patient - youtube takes a couple of minutes to process.

Hey FastrSailr, you must be pretty good. I mean to put that out there like that about BH?

Being so good I'm sure you would be the first to trump your Gucci AC tactician and make the right call 100% of the time.

Do you actually think that was accidental? Remember - the holder of the Cup are the Canadaliens, from Canadia.

here's the first youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/v/mOg2mr2ksjA

HB behind by 24 seconds at the bottom mark, and the wind is up to 15. It's very much ON.

Clearly I have some issues with my posting now. Do me a favor, guys, keep it down for a bit. Third leg, two minutes from the top mark. HB picked up maybe a boatlength, but still a good 8 behind. Race is 6 laps. Tracker is recording, and will be able to be played back - Russ is pretty much writing a new program to get the thing to work around the time zone issue.

Pics on the way.

Never said I was a good sailor, let alone match racer, but I just seem to have heard that the Number One Rule about match racing is to "STAY BETWEEN YOUR COMPETITION AND THE MARK."

And yeah, BH lost the Cup in 2001 because he split on the last leg, with about a one minute lead. Gucci Tactician or not, I've never heard a real answer as to why you'd split from your competition if you're in the lead, especially with a comfortable lead with a win in hand.

I guess you just can't fix stupid.

If anyone has a good answer to my question, I'll take back everything I've said about BH and his apparent stupidity.
