all the pro rock stars are sporting these...high tech, wicking material with extra breathability around the wedding tackle area...
I prefer a layer of microfleece and a pertex jacket under the top....and okay I like the feel of lingeree on the offshores

Capiline long johns. Pair of shorts so I don't get thrown out of the bar again (man, that was embarassing) fleece pants if it gets cold. T-shirt over the top 'cause it stays tucked in better. Add fleece sweatshirt if it gets cold. Jacket if it gets REALLY cold.
Go for good footwear/headwear, as cold feet and no hat make me colder than just about anything else.
OK, who sails someplace warm enough to go commando under foulies? Bastards!!!

Ibex wool. Yep, that's right wool. No matter the temperature. The colder it gets the thicker the wool or more layers. Patagonia makes wool these days too but the Ibex is far superior in quality of wool used, fit, garment finish and comfort. If you haven't tried wool in a long time or never before I would highly suggest you do.
APS is carrying Ibex these days and has a good explanation of why wool posted Here

Hello.
Even better, I only wear foulies about 2 weeks out of the year.

When I say I hate you, I hope you understand that I mean it in the nicest way :P
...Don't mind me. It's cold here, and I'm just jealous.
Wait a sec. Commando with or without foulies is how you sail? Happy crew, eh?

Of course I understand. It's 83F here now, will probably top out around 90.
In answer to your query, commando all the time.

Second that one, I started using some Ibex stuff last year, first for cycling, and then for sailing. It is way better than anything else I've used before, which includes Capilene, dryshirts, and various other combos. It keeps you warmer when wet, and doesn't seem to get you too warm that often either.
