WTF does "troppo" mean? I've lived 25 years @ 1deg N and I still don't get it.

I know, I know...it means going tropical, so what! What does it mean exactly?

Volunteer pommie shiela from BOS, the orangutans are in the crates

Crocodile accepts apology, frees woman

The Jakarta Post, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara | Headlines | Tue, September 11 2012, 10:15 AM

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: A swimming holiday maker says a 2-meter long crocodile that dragged her into the sea released her after she begged it for forgiveness for encroaching on its territory.

The incident happened late Sunday when Elena Parera and hundreds of other people were on an outing on the white sands of Manikin Beach, 15 kilometers east of Kupang.

Elena said that the crocodile attacked her from behind when she was swimming about 20 meters off shore.

“I felt something was pulling me down. When I turned around and realized what was happening, I screamed and apologized. It was a miracle, I was released while the crocodile swam back into the deep,” she said.

The 29-year-old was rushed to WZ Yohanes Hospital in Kupang where she received 13 stitches for serious injuries to her legs. She is in stable condition, doctors said on Monday.

An eyewitness, Yanti Parera, said she heard Elena scream in horror and watched her wave her hands to attract the attention of beachgoers.

Crocodiles are often sighted in the area. Recently, Assad Bui, a 43-year-old fisherman from Ternate, North Maluku, was critically injured in a life-or-death fight with a crocodile off Tablolong Beach.

Went for a site visit just out of Monado in Sulawesi with the new job the other day, arrived at the camp at 23:00 with no idea of what to expect. Out of bed at 05:00 for the day in the field and this is what I found.

The second pic's from the bar, it had the same views, cheap beer, cheese platters. Great spot, an hour's drive to Manado which is really pretty Indo city. Strong Xtian area, a church every 100 yards.

I went diving at the islands just to the north of Manado 6yrs ago. Amazing amounts of wildlife - and the currents turned some of the dives into the inside of a washing machine. The most vicious downwards currents I've ever experienced. Brilliant diving.
