I have to admit that our coverage of yesterday's action (or lack thereof) was crap. We'd like to do a bit better, and we're going to try - our little 17' Whaler is just a far cry from the enclosed cockpits we usually look for when we do our OTW coverage. In any event, I'll start off with some video from yesterday, and hoopefully, things will work well enough to hold your interest. Or not - we don't care.

I know you want your own wheels to get around the course but, the huge RC boats could've been a better platform for managing reports. Hope the winds come up today.

Also..... I wish you'd get some footage at the sailing club. I can't imagine where they put 50 Melgis plus everyone else.

Anyways... I'll be watching. It's raining here all day.

Can you give us an update? Sailflow indicates 6kts ..... is that what you're seeing on the RC? What's happening with the Melgii?

Looks like the wind is crapping out. It looks really flat further out in the bay. It should die as the air temp goes up.

RC may try to get another one off but breeze doesn't look good right now

Well, we've certainly learned the limitations of OTW Anarchy.

I cannot drive the photoboat and do live coverage
I cannot do live coverage from a 17' whaler
I cannot write press releases if I don't get to a computer until 3 AM.


Here's an interview with Charlie Reynolds at the end of day 1, talking about sailing the Tiger to a bullet and a 2 in his first-ever day of racing on his (or any FT).

I'm not sure if I posted this one already, but it's the S2s from Friday. Today might as well have been the same exact thing.

Today was painfully light, yet somehow the Tigers got in four races. Most other courses got two or three - even with the Pryde sails, they really do move nicely in next to nothing.

I can't figure out how to embed this stuff, so here's a link to a marginally crappy video of Terry & Scott on Rosebud winning the start by port tacking the entire melges fleet down at the pin, with Pod having to tack to windward & behind, but a close 2nd:

What an amazing start--took some balls and some big time boathandling to pull off.

Pod (511, red hull) did well to tack right on the port tack layline and make it out alive.

I thought it was really fun to watch in person, and I mostly just thought I'd try this whole video posting thing out.
