Eliminator 32 what is it? Options

Hi boys and girls. I am thinking of buying a boat I have seen sailing for the last couple of years. It was sunk by the Iraqis then re-floated and restored. I don’t know much more than that. The guy selling it believes to be an Eliminator 32. I have never heard of such a boat neither has Google. So any one know what they are and have an opinion on them.

Plus in this part of the world yacht surveyors do not exist. Hence I will be crawling over it with a torch. If any one has a handy check list for stuff to look for it would be appreciated.

I know of two in Ireland but there may be more. There was one for sale in Norther Ireland a while ago but there is a well campaigned one based on Lough Derg. The owner regularly brings it out to the salty stuff for Cork Week and he has done a the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle 250ish mile offshore a few times as well. The boat is named Eliminator and I think she was the prototype. She also qualifies as a half tonner and competed in the Half Ton Cup last year. It's a nice looking boat and it rates well on IRC.

Not sure but probably about €25000 to €30000.

I raced against one 2 years ago. They are dog slow in anything under 12 kts but once the breeze kicks in they go well. They look underpowered, particularly down wind.
If you were looking to race one seriously I am sure you could IRC-ise the sail ward robe to help her out.
As is they seem to be competitive in 18-20+ kts in IRC.

Julian Everitt design built by Jock Blair at Production Yachts in Glenrothes back about 1979/80ish. Boat #1 did the Half Ton Cup in 1979, losing her mast in the offshore race. I raced her part of that season.

Somewhat quirky boat which could be quick. Needed lots of power in the upwind sail shapes, particularly in light stuff where she could stick a bit.

Quite a good looking boat.

Can't add much to that. There was onw in Scotland 25-20 years ago named Smarty Pants and one in Ireland named Eliminator. May have been the only two built. Lowish budget/late 80s half tonners. Reminiscent of a Hustler 32.

The people who had the Irish one told huge fibs in a protest in Tarbert in 1989....I never forget these things.

There is one in Galway called 'Woofer'. It is in very good condition and I think it may be for sale. It could be tracked down through the local club.www.gbsc.ie.
