Went right_over_your head didn't it?
If you would, please try not to use the word asscertain too much.

The time that it is taking Piep Piper to get here from the bridge, it is sounding like a parking lot.

Captain of USCG Cutter Mackinac - the nanny boat for the race
Here's Loren - the dockmaster for the event. She was a bit...shall we say...emotional last year on the docks.

Thanks for keeping this long time race participant informed while stuck on the sidelines this year. 17 under my belt but not really missing the drift fest this year.
Is there any way to get a copy of the 45th call in and post it to give us all an idea of where some friends are out on the lake? One of the boats I'd like to know about either sank or lost its transponder yesterday sometime.

Genuine Risk Takes Line Honors
First boats finish the 100th Running of Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac
July 21, 2008 (Mackinac Island) -- Randall Pittman and crew aboard Genuine Risk, the largest boat in the over 430 boat fleet, were the first to reach Mackinac Island first thing today at 1:18 a.m. during the 100th Running of the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac. Peter Isler, navigator on Risk said, "It was a tactically challenging race. We had 5-6 weather models and the science just couldn't keep up with Mother Nature."
Like Isler, many sailors are reporting on the fickle winds in this 2008 race, which began Saturday. "It's hard to have a strong game plan in these conditions. Sometimes you just have to wing it and go with your gut instincts," Isler added. Fortunately the crew of Genuine Risk is packed with great instincts in sailors like Isler, Eric Doyle and James Spittle to name a few. "Since it is an Americas Cup off-year, we could finally put this great crew together of friends," owner Randall Pittman explained. "This is a great group of guys who really work well as a team
The 100th Mac was special for Pittman and crew for several reasons, but in particular the race was an opportunity for the crew to pay tribute to friend and renown sailor Mark Rudiger who passed away Thursday prior to the race. "We added a sticker on the boom that reads "RUDI." We dedicated this race to him," Pittman remarked. Rudiger was Pittman's navigator the last time Genuine Risk competed on the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac four years prior.
Genuine Risk finished with an elapsed time of 35:08:42, and just under an hour later was followed by last year’s first to finish boat Windquest, owned by Doug and Dick DeVos with an elapsed time of 35:56:44. The skippers of both boats hail from Michigan. “I live in Ann Arbor now and grew up in Holland and of course know Doug [DeVos]. I think it’s pretty great that two guys from Holland are first and second to finish.”

As far as I know, 9 PM is still the last one.Anyone know if they extended the ferry schedule?
Spoke to Windquest crew and a couple of watchers on the island who all agreed that no one saw lights on Genuine Risk until their motor was fired up. That doesn't mean they weren't using them, but you gotta wonder.

i don't know anything about americap. so here is my question knowing a boats americap rating, distance of the race, and finish time is it possible to calculte the boats corrected time? or do you need to know the super secret VPP? i like math. bring it please any guru in the crowd.
According to the earlier video of Ron White, they are doing time on time.
Multiply elapsed by rating should do it.
You can also still d/l the "SMART Scratch Sheet" from the CYC website.

Here's the deal... at about 10:30am this morning the Mac SQL DB got hacked and some garbage HTML code added to it that is preventing us from running the site live. This happened at various servers around the country and many SQL DBs... unfortunately that also includes my Yacht Scoring... Yes! My business! Fortunately I have a back up copy of that one and it is in the process of being restored while I have spent the day trying to also modify the code to close any possible doors. My server guys are doing the same at their end.
Back to the CYC Mack... Fortunately I had a copy of the DB from a few days ago so I also spent the day recreating the site locally so we can at least run results locally. We have it up and running here and we will now re-verify any rating changes since my last copy was created to make sure they are all accurate. Unfortunately that doesn't do you guys much good as you don't have live access to it. The CYC Mac site host shut down the DB until they can figure out how it happened as a few other of their DBs also got SQL injected... So the site is down until they can figure it out.
While this is all happening, my system was feeding direct finish times to the iBoatTracking guys so that function is still working. You can check the latest finishes (but no corrected times) at their site under the Leader Board. They get the feed immediately as we enter the finishes in our system locally.
As soon as the CYC site comes back up, we will re-enter the data in the live site. The most important things here right now is that we can generate and produce results for the event. Even though it is not running live.
Now you get a feel for what is going on and how my day has been going so far with maybe 2 hours of sleep last night.
Please understand that this is not CYC's fault nor mine... and if I could find the SOB hacker, I'd be giving a real good treatment of their own Chinese punishments (make you list here...)
Well, Clean will keep you posted as we enter them as I've give him a back door to access so he can keep you up to date on the results.
In the mean time, I've got to go back to work on fixing this hacking mess... Can't apologize enough for it........ you guys that know me know how much I hate late results!!! over 10 years in the biz and I have NEVER had this happen!
Keep checking here for Clean's updates and the iBoatTracking for the finishes.
