Word. Imagine how stoked they'd have been if they got all the space that my sponsors do.While Clean may be on the water thanks to the folks listed above, none of this would be possible without the sponsors who make it possible to actually have the event....

Looks like 5-10 from the southwest and trending left. However, it's at 9-10 now at Thomas Point, which is more than it should be. Should be interesting, with a big flood tide.
Trust in the Amy. Terhune knows about this set of conditions too. Alas, he's hampered by the absence of lovely Katie.

Tides on the Bay tend to be greatly influenced by the wind. The water was the lowest yesterday that I can remember recently. Therefore, if I were guessing, I'd guess hard flood.
Here's a good tide link:

Clean,
What is the wind like there now on the water?
Check here for Current Conditions out in the middle of the bay. Near where they are racing:
http://www.ndbc.noaa...p?station=TPLM2
CUrrent should not be much of an issue as the wind blew all of the water out of the bay & with no breeze the flow vs the ebb ... there will be less consequential tied effect. I think.

Chasing The Light
The 2008 Melges 24 North American Championship is shaping up to be a true battle of the titans. The boats ,may be a hell of a lot smaller than TP52s or IACCs, but the competition is “as tough as anything I've seen,” according to one America's Cup and Volvo veteran. Unsurprisingly, the biggest “golden boy” of them all is shining at the top of this heap – Terry Hutchinson now sits with a seven point lead over Olympian Gabrio Zandona on Joe Fly, with Chris “Opie” Larson just behind. That means locals in third and first place, with good reason; massive shifts and puffs all day. We saw boats on opposite tacks just 100 yards separated on the same course. Auto tacks, huge leads, and boats going from second to seventeenth in one leg – it was truly mayhem.
But it was nothing compared to the best parties at these events, which are thrown by Melges with the somewhat cheesy moniker “Melges Rocks!” Tonight's featured hot chick and overall lead holder Amy Ironmonger (amongst others) shaking her ass on the dance floor, and was punctuated by the sight of our own Anarchist “Quint” taking his shirt off and diving headfirst into the lobster tank at Philip's Seafood. Not only did this psycho (we love ya Mike!) jump into the 45 degree water, but he came up with a lobster in his teeth! Eddie Murphy, eat your heart out. “Goonie Goo Goo.”
Yesterday's leader, Dave Ullman, had a shocking final race along with a few other top dogs – though Full Throttle, Blu Moon, Simplicity, and 17 others had their radios on when they were called OCS. Ullman, along with quick Morgan Reeser didn't hear their call, and sailed the whole race only to be scored with maximum points. That shook up the standings hugely, but with only 7 races of a likely 12 run, and the quality of the fleet at what's perhaps an all time high, it's true that anything can happen.
If we had to grade this event at its midpoint, we'd give it a B+. The organizers have kicked some major ass, the venue is spectacular, the competition is ridiculous, the breeze has been there and as challenging as anyone could ask for, and the parties have already put Porto Cervo's lame attempt at fun to shame. Hell, even the IMCA has stepped up their game, with solid press releases and good pics since we slammed them the other day. Only one downside exists as far as we can see, and there's nothing Annapolites can do about the bitter cold – but it does suck! All we can say for Worlds next year is – you have to come, but bring every piece of clothing you own.
You can see every detail of the action of day 2 in what has become an insanely popular On-The-Water Anarchy report, and Day 3 is coming right at ya whether you're at school, in your office, or just screwing around at home. Check in often to see who's ahead, who's behind, and who's on their ears, right here on the thread. Yesterday's results are here.

Wind looks to be 3-5 G 6 from 260. Observations from the district's southern region show a left shift to 190 degrees and less breeze. Things get better tomorrow and Sunday.

I wish someone else made a significantly better camcorder that was waterproof, but they don't exist. Funnily enough, since the Ed bought us our little Sanyo more than a year ago, the same one has popped up in the hands of event press officer Justin Chisholm, owner of Sail22 Ed Furry, our own housemate Bora Gulari, and a lot of other people in this sport - journalists and otherwise. (btw, someone asked me who Ed was sailing with - it's Guy Mossman, Riot Act, in 43rd.I'll work on the white balance - this little thing has its limitations.
Dude you need to get Scot to pony up for a new camera before KWRW.
Great coverage! But the quality of the video leaves something to be desired.
Done.
Remember something - while another camera could get better lighting or steadier shots, I'm limited to quality by my aircard upload speeds. I could shoot at twice the frames per second and twice the pixels with this camera, but that would mean 20 minutes or more per upload, and that would ruin this report.
This whole concept was only made possible as the 3G networks were built and integrated - and we've been waiting as the technology catches up to what we want to do. It shouldn't be long before we can do this much better for not much more cost.
I hear you man, didnt think about the fact it would take longer to upload larger videos. Like I said keep up the good work, kept me entertained at work all week.
Just think 5 years ago no one would of dreamed of this, who knows where we will be in another 5.

Listen: Remember we talked about some swag on offer from our great sponsors? Well, today (and tomorrow) are the days.
So, the first race we're giving away two shirts: One from Coral Reef and one from Eastport 32. The Wanker Line (according to Tom Weaver) is the line that you get when you fold the score sheet in half. The Anarchist who guesses the boat immediately above the wanker line, wins an Eastport 32 shirt. That's 23rd place.
The Coral Reef Sailing shirt will go to the Anarchist that guesses the Chileans finishing position.
Don't even think about doing it on this thread - go to the contest thread to make your guess and win your shizzle.

As long as they're not using the shrouds to roll the boat, it's all good. I love that little wheel, too.Best shot so far of of the Eastport was the one at the dock.
it's so cute how they put a little wheel in the back for clean to play admiral with. all aboard!
is hanging out by the shrouds legal? see the 3-boat start no. 18 pic above.
