I find micro-cruisers inspirational. Hell, anybody can cruise in a forty footer.

He asked the guy he bought the car from if it would make it to Mexico... I bet the guy was probably thinking something like "sure pops, it'll get you there... sure it will...you just give me the cash now.."
His approach to dealing with the authorities in three different countries was amusing to.

No.. you can't... This is truly some original and kick ass sailing in a sailing world becoming so damn conformist. A+ for originality. They don't even make grade high enough for building a 16' plywood cruising cat, driving it from Canada to Mexico on top of a Chevy, and then freaking cruising in the thing...

Another one of my books that was lent out and never made it back. I may have to repurchase for the pleasure of reading it yet again.

ETA; ironically, this updated post about Miss Cindy ended up just above the DT thread

Great adventure! Actual cruising!
I thought there were pictures or videos starring Miss Cindy and the CHP - I searched, but could not find. Anyone?

ps: this thread deserves to always be above any discussion that includes HWSNBN II.

We would have most likely laughed him off the BB if he had proposed doing this in a post, but there he is, out there just getting it done.
It puts everything into proper perspective.

Bingo.
OTOH, somebody who does a Miss Cindy doesn't need other people's validation. Inner compass and all. Again, I salute Miss Cindy and her crew.
This thread bump has made my day. Thanks.

That poser DT looks very sad with all his extravagant pontificating, compared with this simple and honest achievement of Miss Cindy.

What I think is interesting is that as Estar noted, this guy is pretty minimalist in his preparations, but what I also read into his journal is that if he died at sea from his own failure, he would never call for help. His wife would probably miss him, but I don't think he'd burden any rescuers.
He is getting it done! B)

If you look at the boat, the workmanship seems pretty good.
He is the polar opposite of DT.

He isn't out there blindingly sailing into storms or foul weather he can't handle. He plans his route, waits for a window..and has an alternate in place if he needs it. However, you wouldn't catch me doing this...I think about strapping basically two Lasers together and sailing halfway around the world, and think NFW! :o
Sometimes I wish my C-30 was bigger in the Chesapeake.

I'm with you though - my boat is 35 feet and a rough night in the Gulf Stream made me think NFW would I get a smaller boat.
This guy rules though - for less money than most cruisers spend on a dinghy he went thousands of miles.
