If you're listening, here's the type of content that I'd find interesting:

1. who's winning the starts, who's getting worked (by whom)
2. what's the wind doing, and who is taking best advantage - what are they thinking about on the respective boats
3. boat perf: are planing boats starting to break free, or stuck?
4. who has speed/height advantage - analysis of why (trim, driving technique, puff)
5. commentary re: great maneuvers & the poor ones too (video a super bonus)
6. battles within the battle - who is covering whom - and paybacks!
7. special interest stories - characters/jokes/classic lines/heroics/cheaters exposed...
8. comparison of sail shapes - what seems to be working - anything new being tried
9. protest action
10. and I guess mark roundings and finishes give it all a sense of conclusion

Of course I don't expect you to be able to get to all of this stuff, but hopefully this will give you some idea of what a "joe viewer" is thinking.

Clean asks a legitimate question about whether it is boring to sail around by ourselves but there is a logical answer. It takes a long time to put together a team as good a that which we have onboard Rosebud. If we do not sail and train, the team will dispurse and the program will loose all the knowledge we have gained over the past 2 years.

It is impossible to pull the boat out of storage and rock up to a major regatta and hope for a satisfactory result. We have just finished a complete refit of the boat since our return from the Med. We are now in the process of discovering how the changes we have made to the boat have changed the performance and handling of the boat.

We had a great race from Fort Lauderdale to KW and now we are learing about getting the boat around the cans. To be honest, KW is very limiting for us because of how short the legs are (2 Miles) and how shallow it is. Today in the first race, we could only sail for about 2 minutes off the start line on starboard before we would hit bottom. We had the same limitation at the top mark. However, maybe this distraction is good practice for Cowes???

Regardless, the KW Feeder and KWRW will help to prepare us better for the Jamaica race in 2 weeks and for the rest of 2009.

Cheers Malcolm. Roger told me as much tonight when we did a long interview with Roger and Mrs. Sturgeon tonight. They were both great, talked openly about the STP65, SA, racing all by yourself, and Sydney Harbor's festivities. Given that the rest of our interviews tonight ended up being Melges teams, I had to mix it up a bit - and Roger was awesome.

They told me the coolest thing - that they owed SA big time. "Why?" I asked. "Because all the hits that we got from Sailing Anarchy helped to get Dockwise as a sponsor to move our boat around." Good on Dockwise, good on Roger, bummer that I won't get to race against him in the Lauderdale-Charleston race, as they are off to the Med.

Now THIS is funny. After three years of douchebags creating handles like Mama Clean and Grandma Clean to fuck with me, my actual mom finally posts in one of our reports. Gold!

Clean, I told you this in the tent, and I told you I'd say it here. You get slammed a lot of the time, but I've never had a problem with you and you work hard to support this sport, and it is clear that it is for the sheer love of it. My respect level for you went up about 1000 times today. For those of you that bash the OTW reporting, come here and spend even a day with it, and then talk to me. As for the rest of the shit you get . . . you are on your own!!!

And just because I probably haven't pissed enough people off with this post. . . . here's our backyard . . . .

We are happy being the top of the small boats in the class as the TPs aren't really withing reach on handicap. Pretty good for a charter groups first outing (besides the feeder race of course).

Hey Clean, just don't forget that an awful lot of those here don't get to sail one design like the 32's and 24's so the handicap fleets offer something to a lot of people. I've got friends down there in both groups and I'm equally interested. Plus the sheer boat porn of Rosebud doing a sweet chute drop is priceless.
Admit it: you'd give a nut to be on that boat for the week.

Keep in mind what I am posting here is completely unedited, straight off the camera and quickly sized for posting. Many adjustments could and should be made, some on the water and more off. What the hell is that Custom 41 ?? 41204? Man that is one whacky looking paint job to put it nicely.

That boat is from Sarasota owned by the Ulmman loft dealer, Doug Fisher. Just raced against that boat a couple of weeks ago (wiped me out at the start, thank you very much). It is very beamy, twin wheels, reminds me of a RTW style design, say an Open forty designed several years before there were any. Lifting keel and rudder (handy around Tampa Bay)

Should be a player for honors in PHRF1.

Doug is a major player too - He was the BM for Stars N' Stripes for the Mac Races - I understand he's got the previously submerged mast for her down in Sara

Is the boat coming back also?

I've been looking for it at the Squadron from time to time and haven't seen her - she stays on a ball out there (last I saw her)

SS lives behind the owners place. Boat is at the sail loft right now still in the cradle. Havent seen it on a mooring in Sarasota since the boat was bought a couple of years ago.

we were real slow today compared to Rush. Blaming it on rigtune and not sailing flat enough. Got killed downwind, dont know where the speed went. Should have much better starts tomorrow if we have our heads in gear.
