It's Safran's hull shape (same mould) indeed, but with a brand new Verdier deck.

Update on Mike Golding:
http://www.mikegolding.com/news.asp?sid=22388
Mike Golding will compete in the upcoming Transat Jacques Vabre race with Javier Sansó (ESP). The 4730-mile race from Le Havre in France to Costa Rica starts on the 8th November. Golding, who has competed in every edition of the biennial Transatlantic Race since 1999, was originally going to sail with Bruno Dubois, his long-term friend, team sail advisor and Managing Director of North Sails, France, but Dubois has elected to stand down in favour of the Spanish skipper

I thought this was interesting, as it continues to show the current situation in raising sponsorship.
Golding and Sansó are sailing the event unsponsored, and the team has benefited from the considerable support of Mike´s long-term business partner, Jørgen Philip-Sørensen.

“We are obviously now looking for a new sponsor to take us through the next IMOCA cycle, and as such both Philip-Sørensen and I felt it was important to take part in this race as it is a key one to look at both our own, and the competition’s performance”, commented Golding. “By supporting this entry we will be able to not only do that, but also raise awareness of our search for a new sponsor.”

It is really great to see the Spanish embrace Imoca, I wonder which country will be next in line to acquire the taste. Have multiple people participate.

I'm personally glad to see that Mike Golding is racing even without a sponsor. Definitely shows he is not out of the picture yet.

Daily Sail reporting that Guillermo Altadill has left the Estrella Damm campaign, with Yves Parlier replacing him for the TJV.

That guy really seems to know how to fall out with people....

A bit surprising - if a departure was necessary I would have guessed it would have been Pachi Rivero, what with GA being from Barcelona, as is the primary sponsor of the team. Oh, and the major event in their campaign is the Barcelona World Race.

There have been quite a bit of news lately.

Alex Thomson officially confirms a new 4 year Hugo Boss sponsorship program. The total cost of buying and re-modding Pindar is expected to be greater than purchasing a new boat.
http://www.yachtingworld.com/news/429891/a...oss-sponsorship

Jean le Cam is still awaiting insurance money for his lost boat, and will hold a press conference at the Paris boat show if the issue is not resolved.

Interesting article on Mike Golding
'But, really, as well when you look at the boats and the sailors, then you think, well maybe not, maybe we will all go for the same option. But I do think that we need to make that commitment, whatever it is, quite early on. Because, from Ushant it is a straight line, there are no more corners. From Ushant onwards you are on the line. That changes things slightly. And if it is a heavy airs, upwind race then perhaps Artemis could well initially, as could Hugo Boss, we are not too worried about Foncia or Groupe Bel. It is just those heavier, more powerful boats, I'm not nervous about that and their gains, such as they might be, I think we can make back downwind. And hopefully there will be a prevalence of downwind over the whole length of the course.'

Hey, don´t be harsh on poor Guillermo.....his CV is impressive:

Not finished the 05-06 VOR
Not finished the last Barcelona World Race
Not finished the 08-09 VOR
Not even started the next BWR

He´s getting better at it!!

That said, he´s not the asshole, the assholes are those that keep employing him.....

I say we start placing bets on how long he is going to last with that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

On another note, I would personally love to see Mike Golding get another title sponsor. Seems like he still has more to prove.

Michel Desjoyeaux congratulates Torben Grael for winning ISAF sailor of the year..
"My congratulations to Torben Grael and his crew, ISAF sailor of the year. I don’t know who is the female sailor of the year but my good wishes to her also. "

http://www.jacques-vabre.com/en/s03_news/s...l&news=1548

I guess it is good that Torben Grael an ocean racer won, his achievements are impressive, even if he had a great "TEAM" to help him. How ever winning the vendee twice, especially with that comeback, I feel like quoting Kanye

But Michael had one of the most stunning sailing comebacks of all time!!!!!! All time!!!

http://blogs.lexpress.fr/aularge/2009/11/v...c-sam-davie.php

interesting video visit from PYL aboard Artemis, the "big lady" or "fat ass"...
with Sam and Sydney, 30' but all in french

everything so complicated, heavy and quite inefficient !!!
already they have taken 500kg out of the 10 tons but still so much bullshit to remove
to make it short : a toy for designer / naval architect but a nightmare for solo racing

we can give credit to Malbon for having taken it solo to NZ, a true achievment...

I agree. And she is last in the Jacques Vabre, even 2 people onboard can't sail her fast...
