Haven't seen any quote from SNG or Alinghi asking for a meeting publicly yet, although there are several articles about this which do not appear to have any foundation in them. As GGYC is claiming it has not yet received this invitation, it doesn't appear to be very official.

. . . so they're trying to annoy SNG publicly ahead of negotiations? That usually works in diplomacy so I'll be off down the bookies putting my money on a MC event in 2010 shortly.
. . . or actually maybe I won't.

The PR game is one EB can only loose but his past loosing record shows he just doesn't get it or care.

I would have thought that it would now be to Alinghi's advantage in terms of winning AC33 to have a DoG fight, and it's not like they would be altering position if - now that BO have won the court case - they remain in the position of saying that this leads to a DoG match.

Yes, I'm sure the EB quote would add lots to the discussion as what he says and what he does are without exception directly correlated.
Not.

. . . neither is it in any way commital. So the game is being played again by both sides. So no agreement will be reached.
Hence why the Cheesezilla build programme has been accelerated.

Decent enough article, but there is no direct EB quote.
It strikes me that LE is going to in Europe next week anyway, for the opening of the RC 44 season in Cagliari. (?)

Like someone already suggested, it looks like GGYC were happy to keep things private, and only released this after Alinghi went public with the other supposed meeting notice. They don't want to be seen as the reactors, if they have been the pro-actors. ?
And like some else (KM?) suggested: It unfortunately does have a ring of Deja Vu All Over Again to it.
But these are good developments considering they lean towards meeting, instead of calling something off.

I've been thinking about all this for quite a while now. And you're right, it is very hard to ignore this fact.
And these rumors flying about this morning, about Alinghi agreeing to meet. Have we heard one scintilla of a hint about ~what~ they are proposing to meet about?
What the hell is the real Alinghi agenda here? We could be jumping the gun if we start assuming it's all about MCMC? Or even about MCDM?
This could get interesting, I hope we learn more quickly.
Okay, off to a blasted SOX audit - damn I hate their timing.

SNG probably has GGYC's fax number on a blocked caller list.
Dated the 7th, made public on the 14th, the subtext is it has been a reasonable amount of time, Hello? is there anybody out there?

1) GGYC sends a private letter to SNG asking to meet.
2) SNG does not respond, either to GGYC or BOR itself.
3) Still without saying fucking word one to the people he's going to meet with, Bertarelli announces this meeting.
Second verse, same as the first.

VALENCIA, Spain (AP) - America's Cup holder Alinghi has invited BMW Oracle to Geneva to negotiate the terms for the next Cup.
The Swiss champion's home yacht club, the Societe Nautique Geneve, is hopeful that American counterpart Golden Gate Yacht Club, BMW Oracle's home club, will accept a face-to-face meeting next week "to seek mutual consent to the terms" of the 33rd edition of the sailing classic.
BMW Oracle said last week that it remained committed to negotiating a conventional race with Alinghi instead of a one-off series between the two syndicates.
GGYC was still waiting to receive the invite and could not comment.
It would be the first meeting between billionaires Ernesto Bertarelli of Alinghi and Oracle head Larry Ellison since September.

EB may try this, he's tried as much before, but being that SNG signed to and agreed to be bound by the terms of the trust, which a NY state administered document, I do not think the trap would work.
But, then again, you get one of those Euro courts to re-read the DoG like MM has, and he could possibly get some whacked-out judgment.
You know, " the grantor didn't really write the latest document so it really does not have to be administered in NY, we can handle things right here..."
