I have sailed one D/H in the Pac-Cup and have to agree with you I would never live on one but this guy just might be willing to for a while.

Slater Sans gonna be pissed! he's pluggin away on the mini 12 and this thing pop's up in his backyard.
Ha ya all he needs is another boat. I think between him and his brother they are the beginnings of a fleet. True about the slip, but good luck those things are worth gold. And according to the marina, if the boat changes hands and ownership then the new owner does not have rights to the slip. Eh, get a trailer, dry store it and race the hell out of it.

every year a few more boats are added to the inventory
a lot of useable boats probably should be cut up for salvage value as the won't be bought

This boat was dry sailed up until a couple of years ago. Too bad someone didn't latch on to it before it got put in a slip. It was in decent shape but needed some TLC even then. Even had a new Ullman main at the time. Being a Craigslist ad I wonder how legit this deal is.
Still hope somebody picks it up.
....and yes we've got too many damn boats in the family!!!

Just got off the phone.
Kelly is the manager at Dana West Marina. She will allow people to see the boat at 9AM tomorrow morning -- not before, because she wants to be fair.
The boat can stay in the same slip for $332.60 per month.
If you buy it, she will give you "lien sale paperwork" that you can then take to the DMV and get the title.
I did try and buy it before 9AM, and she said no, it would not be fair to others who have expressed interest and said they would be there in the AM.
See you guys at 9AM.

It's a lien sale, they are trying to get as many people to show up as possible, I would be really surprised if it didn't go for 2-3 times as much. If it sounds too good to be true....
OMG you mean some one might have to spend $3,000.00 for a SC27? if it floats and the rig is in tact we are still talking killer deal!!
#24
Posted 08 May 2009 - 12:54 AM
This will be a project. New bottom/fairing will most certainly be needed. Its been sitting there for a while and, being a 1977 build, the hull is Polyester and it's a safe bet there are more blisters on it than a pimply teenage masterbater's right hand!
Add a used OB, 3 sails and a some instrumentation and the tag will probably be $9K more than the purchase price when you hit the starting line. Don't fool yourself...it ain't turnkey for $1,500. But it is a Cruz on the cheap.

Wow - you just mentioned names from the past. Grew up racing out of Capo Bay YC, even before the club was built. We would met at the Wind & Sea Resturant saturday mornings and raced our sabots in the west basin before any docks were built.
Sailed with Bill Murray numerous times and raced against the Hatch Boys - just saw them at Ahmanson and Yacthing Cup. I also crewed on Triple Bypass - Capo 30 with Rick and Tony.
Good Luck to whomever gets the SC27.

My parent's joined DPYC because they had friends there and we wanted to drysail our boats. We were across the dock from the Cooper's when they got their Capo, and a slip or two over from Mike Hinton when he had a Capri 25 (before T.B.P.)
Got a Moore 24 now and probably the best racing I can remember was when the we were racing against the Hatch's on Slingshot....Lotsa good memories, just no f-in time to play anymore.

This is the sad part of the economic mess. But..
It will get someone out on the starting line. As we go through the summer and into the fall I am sure more situations like this are going to pop up. Post them. Even if it is an opportunity for a 4ksb that will allow someone to move up. But a decent racer is great find.
My only question on this post is this some sort of trick on the owner? Kind of like those Craiglist ads that the house is being torn down and the renters left a ton of junk so everything is free. The Owner comes home to find his house gutted.
Not that I am suggesting any of you do this but...

1,500 project. Like previous post said probably 9 G to get it line ready. Maybe more depending on whats under the waterline.

Capo 30 or the Capo 26?
The 30 pulled the bulkhead through the deck. We had Kading's 26 'Wreckless' and Harry's WL24 'Psychogeneric' to deal with in the B fleet. Fun times.

Ya don't get somethin' for nothin'.
I picked up my current Tartan 30 at a marina lien sale for $2.5K - thought I was getting a deal. About $15K later (including new Pineapple sails, replaced Atomic4, running rigging, bottom paint, instruments, repainted decks, etc.) and countless hours I had a very very nice boat -- but it certainly wasn't a deal.

Did Fred get a different boat, or did you mean SC33???
Had to burn some brain cells to remember Sunjammer. Remember it was originally in Alamitos on the same dock as my Grandfather's boat.
Moved to DP and owned by the D'Agastino's. Saboteer's parents boat was next to it in the West basin. No idea where it is now, but cool '70's paintjob.
