Nauti Girl's thread got me thinking...

For those of you who are religious, can you tell me why?

Why do you believe in it?

What do you get out of it?

I dunno. I'm hoping not haha.

I'm just interested.

I've never really asked someone, so I'm genuinely interested. I'm also interested because I simply cannot fathom it, and am therefor interested in hearing what other people have to say.

You'll need more than popcorn for this one...I've got two plates of nachos, a two-four and a box of cookies.

But yeah, religion, this guy gets it pretty close.

I'm not a big fan, but, to each his own, i guess.

Tuffy, you can't say 'Christ' or 'Phucking' like that. God hates people that say that and even though he loves everyone he will do bad shit to you when you die. We know because a medieval religious figure put it down with a whole lot of other weird shit in the old testament.

Notice the use of "ph". Small hedge against Hades.

Nah man, I don't want to read books.

I want to hear what people have to say.

I don't think any religious people are going to step forward, though.

I am not religious so I can't really argue in favour of any particular sect or creed but you have to admit some of the ten commandments make a lot of sense as a general code for life.

5. Honor your father and your mother

6. You shall not murder.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

8. You shall not steal.

9. Honour the Lord your God for covering 70% of the planet with water.

agree totally.
nothing wrong with the ten commandments. But that isn't religion.
It is a set of rules / laws
these are a good thing

religion is the wrapping paper that holds it all together, and allows people to avoid taking responsibility for their own actions.
Great in a pre-literate society.
wholly redundant in a literate educated society

In the groove.

Tell-tales streaming.

Nailing the polars.

On the right shift.

Crew smiling.

First to top mark.

Now THAT'S religion.

20+ kts breeze.
120 TWA.
Massive A-sail hoisted.
On the plane.
All crew in back of the boat.
Pegging 20+ kts boatspeed.

Now THAT's sex.
