Just a red X for me Squid. Safe to assume that mast is a total loss? I will say though, I don't have a lot of exp with masts like that, but it is interesting for someone as ignorant as me to see just how hallow that sucker is. Fascinating

Squid - Great freakin' photos!!!

I am not seeing any damage, anywhere to the boat (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Even on the rear beam. How is that even possible?

One explanation is it went all completely overboard and then they winched it back onto the boat. But discounting that is how in the SButt shot, taken probably minutes after it came down, it looks like the mast landed directly on that rear beam; almost as if JS steered it to happen that way?

Anyway, please keep them coming, these are awesome.

Awesome pics Squid & many thanks for taking time for feeding us with the juice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Man, you got to feel for the crew even though they are pros it's still got tick one off to have a big learning set back. Sure they all just want to sail.

Well, there is the story.

Sprit breaks, there is a loss of forestay tension, big swing backwards and down comes the mast.

Should we expect to see the droopy sprit back on the boat?

No!

When we see her sailing again I think we see something new and better as a bowsprit.

Dunno, the bit the forestay attaches to is still intact, just the 'extension' for the code0, which I assume isn't carrying mast loads... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

No arrow from me, but the bit hanging down looks like one of the supports that goes above where the sprit extension meets the brace. Where is the other one? and where is the sprit extension and the dolphin striker bits under it? Bottom of the ocean?
