Looking just like an I14 blown up from A4 to A2!

Water isn't looking too warm though...

Nice run there mate. Some of the lightweight SB's are real fun when you get some weight out on the wire. The little Viper is similar in that respect. You should try double handing with traps - staying very light while having some decent righting moment is a hoot. Have done it a bunch on the little Viper and in only 15-20 knots it just takes off.

How hard was it blowing?

Boat looks great.

How difficult are traps to rig?

Sweet little modification!!!

These follow-up questions border on thread hijacking but...

How does the adding of traps effect ratings in NZ? Do sportboats like the Shaw run traps for some events and not others?

Was blowing about 20 knots, unfortunately we didn't have a speedo on board.

Club rating is performance based, Still waiting for some shaw class rules (stevemango) which will outlaw trapezes when class racing. When racing monkey business(another 6.5) later this summer we are going to agree on either to have trapezes or not and how many so we keep things equal. The great thing about the boat is you can sail without wires and take people out who have done little sailing no problem.

Boat is lit up alright ;-)

With the C-Tech rigs, we have the ability the thread an 8mm rope through the upper D2 point where it connects to the mast; tie a knot in each end and then have a loop (in my case just a bowline) and the wires can tie to that.

No need to drill or attach anything else to the rig.

For the wires, I have run elastic around thruogh existing fittings and can run 2 wires; adds some shock cord on the floor of the boat but basically no other effect at all.

This way the boat can run with wires for fun from time to time; good for short handing for instance..... but can race as a class without. It is a bit of a laugh and good fun to be able to go out on the wire.

Kestrahl, is that basically how you are doing it as well?

Always thought these modified T ball fittings were the easy way to rig traps up top ?
(but what do I know, never tried it).

I've got separate T bar fittings and slots in the mast just below the caps where it is still really thick carbon.

On Monkey Business we have 3 wires(3mm dynex), with a t bar fitting up the rig and bungee through the gunnwhale running aft. it is easy enough to pull the boat over on a halyard at the dock to put them in or pull them out as we need them. and have twin tiller extensions for short handed.
we did a 2 handed race a couple of weeks ago and was alot of laughs!
