I found the Wave to be a yes-no boat.
It's simple, delightfully easy to sail, tacks well, etc.
But it's slow. Painfully so.
It takes 20-25 to fly a hull!
Absolutely great for resort tourists and 13 year olds....

I've got one and think its great, take it away for holidays, go fishing, sail with the kids, wave riding at Trial Bay(bottom turns, cutbacks even did a floater last year)sailed from Yamba to Grafton last year, not an F18 but wasn't meant to be, sailing downwind with your back steering the tiller crossbar with a rum in one hand and legs crossed very relaxing, couldn't do that with an F18.

We have one at the cottage and it is fantastic...no-sailing friends can bash it against the docks/rocks and not hurt it...it depowers easily and I can take 4 kids out with me...there are beer holders in the tramp as well....
If it were just "Me"...I'd be in an A-Class....but what can ya do.

Buy both an A-cat and a Hobie Wave?!?

Or get an F16, like the AHPC Viper?

HOBIE WAVES IN PITTWATER

They have a line of these at Bitter End Yacht Club (Virgin Gorda) for the guests to play on....a little sticky, but bullet-proof and proper for the venue!

Oh, come on Africat. A Wave is just like an A-class! :D

And if I'm not mistaken, conforms to the A class rules...and was designed by a dude that designed a mighty fine A class. :P

Any time you want to race straight up Wave vs A cat I'll race you. Lets bet money on it too.

Just pull a Berto' and set the lower wind limit at 25 knots. Boom goes the dynamite!

Next time there's an A class regatta in the summertime in Santa Cruz I'm bringing a Wave. Surely I'll lose a few in the morning, but come 2 o clock... :P

Time-tested strategy - position through attrition.
