The rumor (which I am now starting, from a thread over in multihull anarchy LOL) is that it's some of the C-class guys, recruited for their wing time to be on hand if the wind comes up. That would be a great phone call to get! Is the guy pulling legs, or real deal?

According to BMWO blog it was a few crew members last night.

Yeah, I read that too, but what I'm saying is there's a post from a guy that just joined the team, and is part of that rotating watch. Can you imagine working for years in relative obscurity on your labor-of-love wings, and shoestring budgets, and then getting a call saying, "We just built the world biggest, baddest wing, would you like to come help us with it?"

My question is -- WTF do they do if the wind does come up?

Blunted and lawnboy. But it is not exactly like they were plucked from obscurity. Both of them are very talented dudes on the water and with CAD and wings (blunted) and carbon (lawnboy). Blunted front right with glasses and jacket, lawnboy on his right in a jacket.

some of lawnboy's handiwork:

The answer to what they do if the wind comes up.... they go sailing.

That's what I meant by relative obscurity...ask 10,000 people outside a grocery store to name two wing experts, or two types of boats likely to have a wing...you see where I'm heading...no reflection on their talent or c.v.

There is a reason they proudly refer to themselves as wingnuts.

depending on the scenario, that is one of our options.

Well actually it was an email, and suffice to say we wre honoured, thrilled, and very excited. I have never worked with a more knowledgable or professional group of indiviuduals with such a fantastic team ethic. It has few slow parts, but its an incredibly rewarding job and we never stop learning new things every day. We're glad to be able to make a meaningful contribution in any way, much less taking responsibility for the boat every day and or night as we may be called upon to do.

I have the utmost respect for the entire team and am proud beyond words to be able to be a part of it.

PS Lawnboy and Rossi are tireless in thier efforts, as they are in the C-class program, and they always have my respect and thanks.

What do you have for power at night, and do you have a wireless signal for internet/email (maybe even sat?), or just cell phones and radios?

Well we HAVE to have access to SA don't we?

Beyond that, sorry I don't speak about ANY details, pretty much no matter how trivial they may seem.

So you got the night watch! You got a PC/Lape. Let me guess you have a tab for weather radar, one for boat weather/ alarms, one for harbor radar, one for SA and one to ah look at girls?
