I live in Queens and my finance and I are members of the Narrasketuck Yacht Club...It's about a 50 minute drive from Queens. We're members because boat storage is cheap, and its very casual. Active, very amateur racing every weekend in the summer. The most active fleets are the Narrasketuck, O'day Mariner, Buccaneer 18, and Vanguard 15s. Downside is that the water is very shallow there. (western Great South Bay) I have a hard time calling it a yacht club...it's more of a sailing club with the basic amenities you need to have a good time.
