Calling sailing anarchists to assist and participate in a 'Freedom Flotilla', to cross the Arafura Sea, between Australia and West Papua.
There are an estimated 200 people involved in the land convoy, set to travel through the Australian deserts & outback to Cape York. Then they hope to cross the sea, first to Nauru, then West Papua.
5th June, fundraising deadline
20-25 July the anarchist meet at Lake Eyre base camp, and begin the journey
29th July expected to arrive in Brisbane.
10-16 August, Cairns launch for Flotilla to West Papua
The sailing legs are from Cairns to Nauru, and Nauru to West Papua. Any support or participation in either leg would be most welcome.
"We sail as an expression of peaceful nonviolent, direct action, to highlight environmental and human rights abuses being committed by Indonesia’s illegal occupation of West Papua.
We recognise the rights of indigenous people and their connection to land and water and acknowledge Aboriginal Sovereignty and West Papua Independence.
Human rights and environmental justice is a struggle that belongs to all humanity, That’s us!
With that knowledge we must proceed with strength, dedication and fine music.
We appreciate any support that you can offer to make this historical journey possible."
