Topics I've Started

07 January 2017 - 05:27 PM

Anyone here into it??? I just started and trying to be serious but like anything new, your lost for awhile. I'm mostly focused on Skip Barber cars for now. They are like a 5hp car but one of the most difficult to drive.

Womans Jackets?

01 December 2016 - 02:21 PM

I want to buy my significant other a xmas gift and since I live in Texas, we don't have really cold weather so I suck at knowing what to buy. I usually just wear a hydrophobic shirt, spray top and neoprene bottoms if it's really cold ~ 45 degrees. We won't be sailing in much colder weather so I don't need any offshore or costal stuff. I'd just like something fairly warm and maybe fleece lined for her. I'm debating between Henri Llyod or Helly Hansen. Can anyone tell me who makes better products? I've not used either. I also bought her a Zhik Hydrophobic top as well.

Kinda looking at these 2

Boat Pix

14 November 2016 - 04:28 PM

Haven't seen a thread on them in years here so I have to ask, are they still gonna screw me if I ask how much for a pic? I was racing our last regatta at Wurstfest on Canyon Lake and they were out there flying low ans taking all the pics. I would like one of us but not sure I wanna ask how much?

Trailer winch ideas?

25 October 2016 - 07:10 PM

I've got a Corsair which means I need the trailer winch to raise and lower mast. This boat previously lived on the Florida coast so things have aged and I also have issues with line overrides after dropping mast and attaching a looser spooled  line to boat. Overrides can really piss me off since they can be very hard to undo. Also, My buddies newer 2015 Corsair snapped his line while towing the boat down to South Padre this weekend. I also brought my boat and had visions of my line blowing up while raising or lowering mast. It an easy process but a nervous one :) So I'm thinking about and electric winch with a cable for only the mast. And keep the manual one for the boat.

Please tell me if this is a stupid idea?

Vendee Globe boat rigging ?

20 October 2016 - 02:48 PM

Pardon dumb ass question but wtf are these side gen poles for? Obviously, it's for the shrouds but does it keep the rig tighter with more leverage?
