Topics I've Started

Got a boat for my birthday, made turning 60 feel pretty good.

Originally said I didn't want a birthday present but then this popped up.

These pics are a year old.

Van de Stadt 29, probably an interpretation. Seems to be somewhere between a Dogger and a cruising version of a Black Soo.

Hull and deck have been dry land restored and then glassed 6 yrs ago and besides a couple of laminate splits on the corners of the cabin top and one on the deck both seem fine.

New Kubota 12hp and Technodrive gearbox at the same time, almost no use but looks old with surface rust etc. Purrs like a kitten.

Immediate to do list.

Rot in cockpit sides and floor, sadly they lost interest by then and this is original, needs to be rebuilt and glassed..

Timber mast needs removal and  re varnishing stat, almost bare timber on one side.

One stingy mushroom vent forward and small slat vent in the companionway, more ventilation required asap.

Sails to the loft for repairs, furling jib badly uv degraded in the usual places, roller boom main seems ok but not yet hoisted

I took 2x200L wheely bins of crap off it yesterday including 14 moldy life jackets which exposed 1 1/2' of weed on the waterline.

What have I done?

Fuck it it feels good to be a boat owner again.
