  3. The owner is a good friend of mine. Let’s hold any speculation about what may have occurred and what the ramifications might be until after the authorities have completed their investigation. Let’s all be mindful that families and crew members are grieving. Everyone in the SE Queensland Yachting community are feeling pretty raw today.

  5. Hey Wess, Lot of respect for you over the years but when people answer this question, you dont hear the answer....so I think folks stop bothering to answer. When someone or an organization provides a good or service, if you like and want the product or service, then you pay for it whether you like the provider or not. Don't like the current US administration and begrudge paying taxes......there is always the option of moving to Mexico. But if you like living in the US, there is a price for the services provided. Don't like the current class leadership in the Laser class as

  6. I was watching the Tally Ho video below when it hit me. Luke Powell, the man Leo is interviewing, compiled all the information he could find to draft plans for a Falmouth cutter. Not an easy task. Here's a man who obviously has a ton of knowledge, amazing skills and the intelligence to pull this off. Yet if you put him up on stage with a billionaire, even after telling the audience of his talents, he would be largely ignored. We spend so much time looking up to politicians, the rich, celebrities, we miss out on getting to know the really amazing people of this world.

  10. I didn't hear the ZIM info from ILCA. Got it direct from ZIM reps. Hell, they stood up in a meeting and made an announcement. Not an ILCA rep in the place, but plenty of Laser/ILCA sailors, both class and non-class members.

  11. What I find kind of odd in this situation is that he is not just claiming that the DOW is up. The supporters here would then be arguing the same thing. I'd be posting a DOW quote in an effort to prove it's down, and Dog would be asking me if this is the only quote I have.

  14. The usual pneumonia to which you are referring are caused by known pathogens and insults. The COVID-19 is a "pandemic", and so can show exponential growth. It is a novel pathogen for which we have no cure and can only offer supportive therapies. Most deaths are from the initial pathogen, secondary infections have been few, probably because the virus kills so quickly. A week of malaise and aches, then shortness of breath leading to hospitalization in 7-10 days, death in two weeks or so. Patients can apparently transmit the virus after just two days of illness. The elderly and those w

Minerva is just a great place to arrive after 5 days at sea for us, quite an unusual feeling anchored in the calm behind just the reef, might be 2 or 4 metre sea state outside. Been there in that, but not this day. Fulaga is just the crown jewel.

  18. The problem with stopovers is that every team has to have theirs to keep their sponsors, but every team has to pay the cost of going to everyone else’s, and it rapidly spirals into an unsustainable zig-zag around the globe. Surely the race has to stand or fall based on its intrinsic properties, which are either attractive or not to the people paying. Distorting the race to meet the individual team sponsors was always going to result in irreconcilable contradictions and at the same time diminish the race itself. Having the very best professional offshore sailors who can push a boat to its

  24. I am getting a bit of an education in this stuff. I’m working with a company that is selling high value/margin relatively low volume goods internationally – some covered by various FTAs – others not. Lots of sales to EU and UK but for this year we’ve declined UK sales unless they are FOB at the North American distribution center (clients problem once loaded on a truck at our dock), for the EU we will consider DPP (i.e. delivered to the clients door with duty and taxes taken care of) I’m certainly finding the paper work, regulatory issues, etc. a much bigger cost than the cost of the du

  28. Yes, background pneumonia rates due to seasonal flu, COPD exacerbations, aspirations, other causes are occurring at a steady rate. We are at the beginning of this disease pandemic, and have seen other health systems overwhelmed by the sudden influx of patients. In China, the following article show how hospitals were challenged by Coronavirus patients: Time. Bloomberg reported on the long term need for ventilators, and this article in NYPost shows how in Wuhan, Chinese authorities built two 1,000 bed hospital inspired by a SARS epidemic model to handle the sudden influx of patients. 29. This is interesting. If PSA can only build so many boats, (as others have stated) it will be interesting to see how many of these dealers will get boats to sell and how soon. A container of 24 boats takes 40 days to get to NA. Maybe a couple of these guys split a container in half or 3rd's and they're off to the races? Lot's of moving parts, but at least things are moving.

My dog has more common sense. Also, I would not be a Mormon and have to wear that weird underwear, be teetotal, and have a disturbing fixation with expensive things that just don't work right, like Donald Trump and the F35.

  34. Nope, but why do you have one, are you sick? They don't seal well enough to keep out the virus, they are very useful in capturing your viruses if you cough. quick search: N95 respirators cannot be disinfected with alcohols such as isopropanol because alcohols remove the electrostatic charge from the filtration media and substantially degrade its filtration capacity. Disposable respirators also can be decontaminated through the use of ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI)

  35. The difference is, 16 million people in Italy alone are under quarantine. Tourism is down, our stock market is tumbling, fears are growing, and Trump agrees with you. To wit, this ain't normal. The case hospitalization rate, requirement for oxygen support and rapid development of ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) is all different than the natural course of most pneumonias. One big difference from COVID-19 is there are antibiotics for most causes of pneumonia, established treatment algorithms, and those rendering care aren't as likely to end up needing quarantine and (possibly) he

  36. Yes, but it turns out my bet was good and they DID break their boat. From Paula on FB: If you're using a paddle as a rutter, you broke your boat. Meanwhile, we took the Speck Tater up the Peace River to a bar/restaurant called Nav A Gator today and actually ran the hull aground in the middle of the damn channel! I knew there was a shallow bar there, but it's usually at least 2 feet, not a problem for our boat. Today I started to feel the engine bump bottom before we got to the really shallow part. Slowed down and went across with engine up and hull bum

Yes, the "no-bullshit bullshit" was tiring. Also, watching him brag about eating shitty, canned food like it's a badge of honor was tiring. Yeah, yeah I get it- You're a Klingon. Good food and creature comforts are to be eschewed lest you not be a real warrior. The reason that I became disinterested and roll my eyes at the guy is because I've already lived my life of hardship on submarines and tiny patrol boats. Desalinator broke?
