Really interesting video by Federico Albano, there's more on his social accounts. He's a naval engineer, he writes a lot also about F1.5 points

So why are Democrats taking out Republican trash? The party of Rock-Ribbed-Conservatives that stared down the Soviet Union are now the party of no-balls-spineless jellyfish, that's why. There was a time when both her and Donny would have had a Republican boot up their asses, not a line to kiss their asses4 points

I not sure if this has been already posted. On his way home, Boris did several live TV interviews in his Car, using the same equipment as during the Vendee onboard SeaEx. He really did not leave any chance to get media exposure. Since he is already preparing the next vendee, using the current media interest to generate new or secure his sponsorship is crucial.4 points

What’s pathetic is how little Trump defenders care about truth and honor, service and America. They’ve been soo busy playing the victim, they’ve forgotten the point of government. In trying to defend his lies, his misinformation and deceit, they’ve labeled his effort “free speech” and therefore cool. They simply don’t care if POTUS actively misleads America, and will trot out whataboutism or some other weak sauce justification in order to avoid contemplating what would be the impact if a president was simply allowed to lie all the time, including about the results of a national elect4 points

Last bit I heard from Boris was the guess that his (two) sails blocked his radar and the fishing vessel was exactly in the radar shadow. But the boat is on the way back to Lorient and his team will look into the data logs. --- He just appeared at "das aktuelle Sportstudio", the arguably biggest sports show in German TV, and met the questions of a clueless moderator ("so while you sleep, the autopilot is steering the boat..."; "when you climbed the mast, the boat is stopped, right?"; Boris: "top speed in VG around 35 kn, but I did 45 kn on other boats already" - mod: "but that was on4 points

This was a really good, sailboat related thread until you, A4E/dg_sailingfan, came here to barf your DB hate into it as well. What a sick troll you are that needs to poison each and ever thread with your obsession. Get help, this behavior is not healthy.4 points

https://www.starlink.com/ is where you can sign up to beta test. It took a few months until I heard back, so be patient. Currently, you need an unobstructed view of the north sky, about 53 degrees N iirc. No tree branches, telephone poles, etc., or you may experience brief outages. I mounted my dish up high, no issues... (Ignore the yagi under the dish. It is my LTE/cellular antenna.) The dish, power supply and WiFi router are 499 USD + tax. The setup is trivial. The dish comes with a yard stand, but it fits perfectly in any of the big name sat TV provider's mounts, one I3 points

The Calcutta Cup is awarded to the winner of an annual rugby match between England and Scotland. The first time it was contested was 1879. So not quite as old as the America's Cup! The cup itself has an interesting story. It was made in Calcutta and might also be called the 270 Silver Rupees Cup https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcutta_Cup3 points

Just letting the thing slide down kind of defeats the purpose of eating an oyster. I cringe when I see people load up a nice oyster with a ton of lemon, Tabasco and god knows what else and then just swallow them without any mastication. Can't taste anything, why bother. And don't get me started on people that cook them!3 points

I was the Project Director on this one a couple years ago. Just won an award from Work Boat World for best Dive Support Vessel, 2020, so I'm pleased. Very odd. Diesel-electric. 4 generators, 3 waterjets, 3 bow thrusters. But not fast, only 12 knots. (The waterjets keep the divers more intact). The waterjet people didn't know exactly the thrust at low speed because usually waterjets push at high speed into open air (the transom is dry because fast planing vessels). They work up to 200 or so miles offshore for 2 weeks at a time. 38 crew in a 41m <500 GT boat (commercial NA's will know wh3 points

I think the people of Tuvala, and all those who lost homes in wild fires and increased hurricane activity would see climate change as pretty real! I did read your post and have reread it and your position seemed pretty clear to me and my quote was not taken out of context so don't get pissy when someone calls you out when you take a position they think is BS... There are obviously holes in climate science understanding (as there is in any scientific field) but to complain that the roll out of the climate disaster isn't precisely matching forecasts in some aspects when the broad observati2 points

Depending on the size of the boat, more interior space. If a boat is designed from the outset with outboards in mind, you move other weights forward to keep it balanced. Power boaters seldom care about reducing pitch and keeping weight centered. For the triple and quadruple engined center console fishing rights it is sometimes because the owner is compensating for small penises2 points

At the very moment I learned of Isabelle and Samantha's plan to meet "on the side of Fernando de Noronha", and "ride together" to the end, I immediately thought of an epic western, and Ennio Morricone. Apparently, I am not alone. This hypnotizing video was posted a few hours ago, with "The Ecstasy of Gold": I had other music in my mind for when they enter the North Atlantic (Riders of Taramis), and after the finish line, entering the canal (Approach to Shadizaar).2 points

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that. In which case, yes, I think we are mixing terms. We are really talking about trim balance and the relative work of fore and aft foils and how this could affect RM. I believe a lot of what you discuss is pre determined by the rule, but I hadn't thought about take off in that way before.2 points
