  1. looks like Fantasia has been sold and hauled on a barge from Seatle to Ketchikan, Alaska. I am trying to locate his last owner !
  2. Thanks for your kind offer ! I will forward to the potential buyer.
  3. Thanks to this post, thru a private message, I got the track of Fantasia in Oregon. Thanks again
  4. Thanks, Multihuler heard someting about her, but he can't remember.......
  5. Two photos : Jycoat around 1985, and Fantasia 2005 just before selling ....
  6. I am looking for one of the first French F 40, Jycoat, Alias Colibri, Caisse d'epargne ... she is a Gilles Ollier design , scaled version of Phillippe Jeantot's Credit Agricole (Quebec St Malo winner). I owned/sailed her from 1990 to 2006 under the name Fantasia and sold her in 2006 to two US owners. They sailed her Across the atlantic to Miami, then to Bend,Oregon, by road. According to last news I got some years ago she was still in a back yard in Bend. Please contact me if you know his present location and owner, some people are eventually interested to bring back her in France.

  8. CD is related to a reference area, Drag is proportional to S x CD ! Likely the reference area are not the same
  9. Except the pull on the mast is only 1/6 the tension on the traveler, so the result depends on the angle of the aft sheets !
  10. Sorry, I spoke about phone apps., IMHO the performance analysis softwares (e.g. GPS action replay) can rely only statistical analysis of windward tracks, wind direction used is the mean of port and starboard tracks. I think It is not very accurate and don't account on wind shift. In GPS action replay you can also enter the wind direction.
  11. I think you must feel it with your nose and enter the data in the app !
  12. IMHO, there are knots in the horizontal part to hold the lines in place. First drill thru the horizotal part center, then pull out the lines, clean the holes, fit new lines with silicon or Sicaflex sealant.
  13. It is not me, but the Gougeon's brothers in their book about wood epoxy construction ! I admit your boats are a lot more tortured. You are a great Artist !
  14. Looks like he tortured the ply but also his mainsail !
  15. Agree, so you have to take into account leeway and refined dynamic model of boat's motion to assess Ackerman utility, if any !
  16. The geometrical Ackerman model showing a boat turning with the hull(s) tangent to circular path and aligned with velocity vector is wrong ! To turn the hulls need a centripetal force which is created by the lift of the hulls and appendages, and they need an angle of attack to the flow. Only model right is Tom Speer's one which take's into account the lift of hulls and appendages !
  17. Jean Luc Van den Heede rounded the Horn against the wind during his last circumnavigation, aged of 73 ! Vendée globe and other west to east racers or recorders are little players compared to him.
  18. Obviously, as I was speaking of hull length, I anticipated 15 kt in floating mode ! Maximum velocity in foiling mode depends on foils wetted area and aspect ratio.
  19. According to the length , she will likely reach over 15 kt in right conditions. The control with a single rudder on the pod could be somewhat tricky !
  20. Looking at the market, unless very expensive technology, all the production Tris finishes much heavier than the designer planned (and heavier than advertised !) !
