  1. Immediately after purchase & prior to 600 nm delivery to new home port in dead of winter replaced lashing on lifelines, fitted new AIS /DSC VHF, B&G Vulcan 7, led volt meters & consequently a new 120 amp battery, Tiller pilot, new shitter, fusion stereo & speakers & new led nav lights. Replaced interior lighting with LEDs. Also downloaded Navionics & Cmap. Got home without a drama (apart from weather breaks & time) Cheers
  2. All BH 36’s have an in-line MH rig (think J 35) The Sydney 36 was fractional. Why would you want to change to sweptback - the rig is bullet proof?
  3. Pretty hard to compare a regatta with 8 boats all worth circa $750k & with a fair proportion of paid hands, to a regatta with 300 boats mostly crewed by "weekend warriors" In any case the "organisors", aka Newtack are responsible for both events. Hats off to them, SYC & the competiters though - a good inititave & well run by all reports. Cheers
  4. It is rare for us to receive a post that demonstrates so conclusively why the poster is a complete fuckwit. Way back before you were born doughbrain, Geelong Regatta was the equivalent of a family get together - the uncles, brothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc. all got together and had a party with some vicious racing thrown in for good measure. People slept on their boats, well anyones boat actually, there was lots of alcohol and tall stories. The event was run over a long weekend and everyone had a good time. We didn't mind paying the Geelong "Beer ticket tax" because
  5. "World Sailing Management (WSM), organizers of the MedCup sailing circuit, the official international competition of the TP52 and Soto 40 classes, regrets to announce to all those involved and interested in this prestigious circuit, that it has decided to suspend the 2012 season." Maybe you suggest Geelong Week Regatta is just cancelled ? Audi pull out - ahh fuck it ! - we'll call it off ! The reality is trying to raise a buck for a sailing event in this economic climate is like pulling teeth. RGYC have made a decision to battle on & yes, fees have gone up. Time will tell
  6. Fuck me - when Skandia & Audi sponsored the regatta (& by extension subsidised race entry fees) every idiot on this forum bleated "Too corporate" - now there's no principal sponsor & as a consequence a need for cost recovery & every second person is still bleating "too corporate" WTF !
  7. 8. Audi Geelong Week seems to be fying a bit under the radar this year with entries pretty slow, nevertheless pretty good IRC fleet so far - most from Sydney. 9. eXtasea just crossed at approx. 1750 - a bloody long Melb-Hba. well done to Buck, richly deserved ! , Nudger & every body on board.
  10. No doubt some great sailors on the 47.7, but that race was a"crap shoot" eXtasea just got the gun in the Lstn part of the race at approx 1525, no one in sight behind them, now heading off to Hobart & the battle with Banks St.
  11. With all the discussion about the weather-"will they or won't they?"- & the trip up to Melb & back, plus waiting on reefable main, decided to play in own backyard. But will be at the big school soon ! cheers
  12. I see the new Shogun (Rogers 46) got a third in her first real hitout on Sunday (Chutzpah 1, XLR8 2) comments from anyone doing the race ?
  13. Do you mean Saturday ? ! **
  14. highly unlikely Aero ever coming back. Possibility that another Rogers 46 may go to Royals. S-38 owner (that narrows it down a bit !)
