  1. Looks like Union had the M15 at a D-PN of 86 in 2020 but has bumped it down to 83.6 this year. That seems like a pretty big jump but that boat is probably a screecher in the right hands. Definitely gotta try one out at the first opportunity.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely encourage him to let me take his boat out for a spin. After all, its research right? Just out of curiosity, do you know where the provisional rating came from? If there is any semi-official resource I can tap into, I think it'll carry more weight when I present a suggestion.
  3. I'm looking for a reasonable handicap to assign to the Melges 15 for Portsmouth racing. After digging around the internet there appears to be no information available. I even contacted Melges directly and they dodged the question entirely (no need for the follow up comments). Just by my eye, I'd put it somewhere between the RS400 and RS200 in a range of 82.3 to 88.3 in the effort of comparing similar boats but my best efforts of calculating a value based upon Sail/Disp S#, and Disp/Length just don't seem to jive well on a dinghy designed to plane downwind, especially compared to the lighter RS
