  1. I’ve recently read (in Tuning for Speed) that 400 grit allows that thin layer of water to cling to the hull for the best flow characteristics. But then in Bethwaite’s book on High Performance Sailing, he uses the phrase “highly polished” and “I question whether any surface is smooth enough . . .”. Wax or no wax ? Other ? What is the latest thinking for a dinghy ?
