Pffffftx3
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to
Oh, wellNow when I talked to God I knew he'll understand
He said, "Sit by me and I'll be your guiding hand
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to
Oh, well. -
Pffffft, interpret this.
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music
Used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a whileBut February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
Something touched me deep inside
The day the music diedSo, bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now, do you believe in rock 'n' roll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?Well, I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues
I was a lonely teenage bronckin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music diedI started singin', bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"Now, for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and meOh, and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lenin read a book on Marx
A quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music diedWe were singin', bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a castNow, the halftime air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?We started singin', bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So, come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the Devil's only friendOh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music diedHe was singin', bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't playAnd in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music diedAnd they were singin', bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die"They were singin', bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die"-

$35k for an Alberg 30 project.
And you thought the pristine better than new example on Atom Voyages was overpriced.
But it goes to weather at 55 mph.

Really liking the new baking steel, can't wait to try it over charcoal in the weber or just the gas grill. Either one so long as it's outside. Too frigging cold right now.
Highest temp on my oven is 550, this thin crust took just 4.45 minutes. Came out awesome. The 5/16 steel has enough mass to keep tossing them on. More experimenting needed!

Hang on! Were you not over in the "cool cars I'd like to own" thread recently?
For the record, I agree with you. A basic cheap to own, easy to park basic transportation vehicle is ideal. Keep the cost of ownership as low as possible. Toys for sunny days, Yes!
There is a line though... and a Corolla is way above it for fit, finish, comfort and safety.
Absolutely I was, there's plenty of vehicles I'd love to own. Reality is I drive beaters. In fact I drove a Subaru Outback for over 300K miles. Would still be driving it except for all the electrical gremlins I got tired of chasing. For example the circuit to the alternator that tells it what the voltage is disintegrated. It originated in the cluster and had to go through some resistance, so I wired a single license plate light in the circuit, it worked. Not enough amps to light the bulb, just enough to tell the alternator what to do.
My truck on the other hand gets treated very well.

It's amazing that there are that many boring people in the world that Toyota can sell that many Corollas.
Maybe its not being "boring", rather owning a car simply as a mode of transportation. Shuttling one from awesome experience to the next. I'm in that camp, there's some I'd like to own but the reality is my suby gets me around freeing up limited cash for cooler shit, imho.

Lunch. Smoked duck breast with gravy and Caesar salad (no anchovies... tfh here)
Were all those served at the restaurant? Remind me the name of your establishment. In the highly unlikely event I make it over there I'll stop by for dinner. Maybe rent a moto for a ride.

Take this and add some giant loop coyote panniers then ride from AK to MX.
In the mean time I'm perfectly happy puttering around on my current ride.

Working out in the shop one day I wound up with a big chunk of 5/16 plate steel and thought why not make a pizza/baking steel. I had the TIG machine set up so used that process to stick the handles on. Took it to a local sign maker for san blasting. Seasoned it on the grill outside at 5-600 degrees which gave it a nice deep color.
Tonight was the test run, I wanted to do it on the grill outside first time but the weather didn't cooperate. So in the oven at it's highest setting of 500, preheated for 30 minutes ir so. Tossed in a thin crust with an olive oil, fresh garlic, oregano, red chili flakes and some plum tomatoes that were destined for the trash. Been sitting out for almost an hour now and still very very warm. Holds heat well.
Damn fine if I do say so.

Good for you. Where did you find it? If I wasn't headed some place warm soon I'd go look at it. If you do buy it keep me in mind for transport. Us retired guys can drop what we are, or aren't doing for any reason.

We hung all the ceiling drywall today. My poor neighbor has been living without heat for weeks. Now he can heat his house again without it going up and out. He's pretty happy.
I didnt know houses in Punta Gorda had heaters. The average low temp out there is what we call sweater weather..
The opposite is in my area no houses have AC.
