  1. By the way, to make sure we stay on topic, I did use the special $5 deal to join Off Center Harbor, and I am sending an email with @Kris Cringle's lobstah deets to some friends that really enjoy it.
  2. Whoa..I do not live over there anymore!! That is across the bridge and closer to Waldorf. I do not claim that area, but it did make the local news. That dude is a piece of work apparently. Registered sex offender, armed robbery charges, etc. I can't believe he has 60 friends that came to a bonfire, but there are a lot of idiots down here..maybe they were burning all their infected personables!
  3. I agree with Ajax's assessment..too hard to differentiate, so it is easier to lock it all down. Ajax and me are in the minority of how most people use their boats around here I think. I love a big raft up, but I ain't doing that in March! To me, "recreational boating" to the DNR in MD means a pile of people tied up to the local restaurant/bar pier partying it up, or having a dance party of 15 people on their center console/bay built in the creek cruising along at 5kts. Our marina lock down is the same way. My slip neighbor is in Bethesda..the county they live in has the highest infection
  4. dylan, there has been a long discussion over on the main SA forum with these two.
  5. i guess no potable water other than a case of Evian.??
  6. hmnmm...no rutters yet? Saw the check engine light on the Prius too going to Hampton. Do people really just drive and ignore that stuff? And it will be getting cold, even in Elizabeth City in a couple days. They'll probably just plug in a space heater. Train wreck, indeed.
  7. You have to hold the lever when in reverse..you are putting pressure on the brake band which reverses the shaft (basically you are leaning the lever against that spring in the video.) it should whine like hell. If it is still not spinning backwards, there are adjustments you can make. This can all be checked at idle..it is not necessary for it to be all wound up.
  8. FH, you can always talk to West System and get their recommendations. SA-er epoxymoron is a West employee if I recall correctly. I have only used G-Flex a little bit and initially I agree with Crash...it is flexible..maybe better adhesive qualities as opposed to an epoxy repair where you want some structural filler. As mentioned earlier, I did not scarf, but clamped (ultimately bolted together) some solid 1/2" teak into some rotting teak faced ply bulkhead with West and 406 & 403 (if I remember) and it is still holding 10+ years later, which if it existed, i did not know about G-Flex back
  9. Bump. As an SMSA member, this sounds good to me. There are always compromises..this one only really requires the kids to miss one day of school if you really race with your kids in September, And as FC said, Z's pool was still open the 3rd week of Sept in 2019!
  10. KD, sweet new (to you) boat. Did lotsa miles on V-40 in my youth. Go the KeelDragger!
  11. There is no "reverse" on a A4 gear box. There is a friction brake band..you must hold pressure on the shift lever in reverse, and it will whine like hell..this is normal..the brake band holds the planetary gears stationary (I think) which allows the sun gear and shaft to rotate the opposite direction giving you "reverse". Forward should "click" into what everyone calls the detent, which is the fingers slipping over the bottom lip of a cone in the housing and locking all the clutch plates together for 1:1 drive ratio. - kinda like those little mechanical fingers grabbing a screw head down
  12. That usually means at some point the A-4 did not run. Why someone would spend $2k on an outboard when you can rebuild that engine for much less...I'll never know. FH, Did you join the Moyer forum yet? Me and Wristy chat over there all the time. I did not know shit about A4's when I got my boat. As for the bulkheads, show us some more pics. I repaired one by sistering a piece of teak around were the chainplate was, and got longer bolts..The other side I eventually replaced, because I could cut it with one 4x8 sheet. Later on, I also added jock straps on my C-30 to anchor the chainplat
  13. Wow, cool picture too..good job getting her back to the mainland!
  14. Thanks, Marc...I am about 90 minutes from D.C.
  15. Go the Cone. This boat came to the Chesapeake Bay and did Gov Cup. I sat in the boat and saw the porn..it was epic.
  16. Why would anyone want to race in a class of whiners that are red flag happy? I raced against Espo for years, and I do not recall us having one protest..settle that shit on the water!
  17. GW, Looks good! I have a carbon rig, but I got the same diameter carbon tube as the OEM alum. so I could use the OEM spreaders & deck step, etc. The jumper stay is totally unnecessary, but just for looks. I also built my own sails. For running/standing rigging I used 80# Spiderwire in dark green to match the boat. I had three in my possession at one time as well, but gave two of them to a buddy and his 9 yr old son..He has a pond on his farm we should be able to sail them on! We had quite a few here in SoMD (maybe 20?) for a while and used to drag them to the club after Fros
  18. GW, that is awesome. Reviewing this thread is making me want to get my Victoria running again. It was easy to ignore it stored in the attic, but no attic at the new house so it is on 'display' in the shop. Need a new battery pack I think...all my old Ni-MH cells and charger I am sure are no longer any good. To get the itch going again I might just go get a 30 pack of AA alkalines.
  19. Breathing some new life into the old girl, that is for sure.
  20. This pic is a couple months old, but we did actually go sailing a few times, and even had some bitches who took some pictures as they went by in their power boat. Go the hanks! (but I am ready for a furler!)
  21. Screwpile was HOT. The sailing was good on Saturday and Monday though...RC did shore delays until the seabreeze filled in. Congrats on the new boat, dew!
  22. SJB, thanks for the tip...I'll try that. I also was thinking about replacing the whole thing from Catalina Direct...the alum. is looking a bit torn up in places also, but I will certainly clean it up to start.
  23. Check it, Bitches. Now I need to do the deck to match the topsides...
