  1. Regarding older Aus fast Multies. Joe Farinaccio, the "Small Tri Guy" has posted this about a forty three year old Lock Crowther design. Heres a good read. - http://smalltrimarans.com/blog/?p=11744 And this:- http://smalltrimarans.com/blog/?p=11664
  2. Still would like to know about that Kraken 40 up north, with the name RINGO on it. The original Ringo was Kraken 40 #1, and was built in Canada. Won the 1969 NY-Bermuda race and was then sold to that Californian guy who buggered it up. It became too heavy and never reached it's original performance levels. Can't imagine it ending up in Oz
  3. What ever happened to the CYRA. They used to organise the races for the 12 clubs around Toronto harbour. Each club sponsored one race of the 12 races of the 12 week racing season, every Saturday, come rain or shine. All sailboats were accepted (yes, even multihulls) and sailed in four separate classes, starting at 5 min intervals. Small first, then Medium, Large and Multihulls last. All competing boats would raft up at the sponsoring clubs docks and enjoy a party after the finish. "Bonoventure", a C & C 60, was the biggest boat then, but we would routinely beat her, boat for boat. Af
  4. Talking about the Susan Hood and other great races like the Summerville, --triangular overnight courses across Lake Ontario, starting and finishing at Toronto. What happened to the CYRA, that great combination of the 12 yacht clubs, who would host the 12 races, one each week, for the three months of the racing season. What is the setup now??
  5. Last i heard a guy was restoring/rebuilding "Bagatelle" in Cairns. Has anyone heard about it ??
  6. Anyone know what happened to Logan Apperlys Kraken 40, "Mana Moana". She broke the Sydney-NZ record on her maiden voyage with Lock Crowther aboard. Logan sold her after she was pitchpoled in Manly(NSW)Harbour. Also "Ringo" Dave Greens Kraken 40 which set a record for the New York-Bermuda race. Ringo was sold to Mike Kane in So Cal and I don't know what happened to her either
  7. "Look out across that sea of mind and see me in a suit of 1,000 mirrors reflecting yourself back to you on rays of love. I'm here on the Love Boat searching for the White Sea Turtle. Reid" YE GODs. Will this slow motion train wreck never end? If he's this loony when he is not yet even half way there, are the men with white coats going to be waiting for him at the end? That is if he ever gets to the end.
  8. FEAR NOT. THIS THREAD WON'T DIE. IT'S TOO ADDICTIVE.
  9. Back in the late 1960s we did a series of tests of hanging on to a towline at various speeds. Up to three kts you may be able to haul yourself hand over hand along the rope. At five kts you could hang on---but not for long. We found 8kts was the absolute maximum speed you could do it. Even if you could grimly hang on at that speed, you couldn't breathe. A safety harness with a snaphook AT BOTH ENDS of the line is a much better bet.
  10. Anybody got any bright ideas how to find out if she really is Preggers???
  11. PLUS the fact that in that vid interview she is wearing a maternity dress. Note the high waistband.
  12. Bucky Lugger ---------------------------Enjoy
  13. YES.! RIGHT.! Now lets get back on topic. Where is the Cheese Scow NOW. No news for days. Judging by the big fat High which has been lurking in the South Australian Bight for the last ten days RS & the fair schooner "Anne", (AKA "the Cheese Scow"), should have been getting a nice push down in the general direction of South New Zealand. Though if his progress is as slow as previous, he probably isn't even half way to the South of Tasmania. NEWS-----NEWS ---Anyone.
  14. If she is really going to produce a book. she is probably going to use a " Ghost Writer".
  15. Here we go again. A whole page of nothing but brainless CRAP. When are we going to hear something about what is happening to Soysauce.????????????
  16. WELL. It's 18.00 hrs in Perth WA right now. So if they are on schedule they should be rendevousing with the Cheese Scow right at this moment.
  17. Why don't you Flakes stop your inane Off Topic nattering and concentrate on the main subject. "Where is the Cheese Scow now" ??????
  18. Sailflat. Did you get any response to your call???
  19. I would be the last to "Rain on their Parade". I'ts a real achievement. But lets put it in perspective with the caveats. "Awaiting ratification from the WSSRC a new 24 hour record for MONOHULLS UP TO 60 FT. " Lets put this into perspective. Francis Joyon, sailing single handed on the 60ft IDEC, in the same sea area, has just racked up 580nm in the last 24 hrs.
  20. I think it's more a case of extreme complication and decreased reliability, plus the need to rely on an engine running all the time to supply the hydraulic pressure versus the speed/stability gains. In other words it follows the law of diminishing returns.
  21. Removal of canting keel mechanism. So much for CBTF. As Mr Cessna said, "Simplicate, and add less weight".
