Every time AS want to add further cost to my sailing in the name of keeping me safer, it should be  a mandatory part of the process that they identify some other requirement(s) whichare made superfluous by the new requirement. If they cant do this, then the new equipment can't be of much benefit can it?

Can that also apply to staff?

Only 10 people allowed to gather on board so the beautiful people of Rushcutters bay can’t hire a little man to leave the cockpit and do all that working class stuff up the front. They must have to unwrap the cling film from their cheese platter themselves as well.

But... but.... who’s going to mix my espresso martini’s? I’m not making my own.

RPA is starting up then as well. They are having crew limits to conform to Covid- policy and I think non-spinnaker is to keep crew numbers down for everyone (not give us shorthanders an advantage ;))

Correct. Apparently the start date and “no more than 10 crew” rule was agreed on by a group of the Commodores from major Sydney and Pittwater clubs.

The Catholic Youth Club at Rushcutter’s Bay have announced that anyone breaking the crew limit will be disqualified and face sanctions from the club’s disciplinary committee. They’re not f*cking around.

I think the 86 had the deck cut off and used on the next boat and the hull was sold off.

Wharro had a white 70 footer designed by Murray, Burns & Dovell back in the late 90’s / early 00’s that used a spare rig from an IACC boat. If memory serves, the rig came from Spirit.

He then put that boat into the shed, lengthened it to 80 feet and painted it fluro green. I can’t recall if the water ballast was part of the original build or the rebuild.

The boat was later sold to David Dicker (current owner of the Dovell 50 canting keel harbour racer Atomic). He renamed her Martingale and went automation crazy so you’d see this 80 footer tearing around Sydney Harbour with 2 or 3 crew. IIRC he’s a software/systems engineer and his boats live next to Star City casino.

Hmmmm.  Maybe but that’s max sea breeze season so a high probability of extended Railmeat action.

I’ll take high side rail meat in shorts over low side railmeat in two sets of thermals, boots, bear suit, fleece jacket, hand warmers, hot water bottle, scarf, ski gloves and Nana’s tea cosy.

Those 2 am watches are bollocks!

Looks like no Hobart at this stage unless you finish and return to the mainland.

Or the whole fleet quarantines down the Channel for 14 days.

Hard border in place at least to October at this time.

But plans to move the Sydney to Gold Coast race to October could be a winner. Going north at that time of year sounds very bloody pleasant!

Icefire & sister Ozfire weren't that big.

43 or 45'  somewhere in that range.  Quick downhill for the day but only average on the wind.

45 foot. Super quick once you cracked off, but entirely the wrong shape to go upwind. And with two of the smallest steering wheels in history, so leverage was an issue...

What are the symmetrical white gelcoated" bins" each side of the companion way?  Hanging lockers?  Water ballast tanks?  ???

Nav station one side, wet or ropes locker on the other.

The third TP52 Yassou / Glory / Wot Yacht / Wot Eva has a nav station to starboard, opposite the oven.

I don’t think TP52 nav stations migrated to under the cockpit until gen 2 or possibly even 3.

what about the "sewer rat"? they are used to working down a dark wet hole after the rest of crew have finished their work.

Your average sewer rat though is used to asking the team to “jump on the end of this, and give it a pull.” So maybe they’re more into boys. NTTAWWT.

    Exclusive or shared?

Well, if it’s something as prestigious as the Queensland Intergalactic IRC Championships... probably shared?

For something like the Gladstone race... there’s more than enough hookers in Gladstone to go around? What’s the ration? Two per man, per day...

Ocean Sailing Queensland was formed last November.

It is unashamedly a lobby group for owners of vessel capable of coastal passages.

Are there different divisions for members? I.e. Welterweight, Heavyweight etc.?

Or does everyone fight in the same weight class?

I haven't watched channel 9 (or 7 or 10) news since I was in high school. A sad and sorry example of mainstream journalism.

You obviously still do, and because of this you are now an expert on exactly what went on at the JPFM at New Farm yesterday. Good for you. If you can't spot hit job clickbait journalism by now then you never will.

So go back to sleep you brainless News Corp sheep and enjoy your ignorant bliss bubble.

I will continue to support small farmers, producers and wholesalers every chance I get.

Fellas, could we maybe compromise, crack a beer, agree that everyone’s a bastard and leave it there?

Not that watching you two go at it isn’t fun, but isn’t this thread meant to be about Shaggy and LB 15 doing their best to wind up Glennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn from Australian Sailing?

You can still sail in - nobody checks that. Anchor down in Recherche Bay then come up the Channel.

I’m waiting on Lydia to sell me his boat. I think we’d agreed on a 2022 sale. If the border isn’t open by then...
