Stars and Stripes Team USA is gone

If S&S want to borrow a boat to get into the challenger series, why not borrow(?) Defiant? Then the made in country issue evaporates. edit: oh - already suggested...

I've heard... that this method only became fashionable once the gas companies shifted from coal gas to (whatever it is now) and the mortality of sticking your head in the oven dropped. then they made the car exhaust less toxic, so I guess now its drugs and guns or Covid parties

a wine is enhanced by the glass it is served in, where it it served, and the company that shares it. That is never more evident that enjoying a cheap chianti in a polo cup whilst in the presence of a beautiful, available, semi-clad twenty something who's making kissy faces at you. You'll remember that wine forever

    Emirates Team New Zealand.

I recall that Ponsonby has about 4 inches of soil over clay. I could feel the neighbours walking down the hall two houses over. The clay is like a trampoline, and those old homes are paper thin.(though there has to be a bunch of concrete and steel in Glen's to be able to open those doors more than once.

    Art on a boat?

Art on boats (if its a Picasso) also runs into challenges of importing (or exporting/stealing) national treasures. Customs, duties, police, impounding ... Not my kind of problem, but so I've heard...

    LONQR 2

I happened to be in Milan years ago leading up to the Italian Grand Prix. I got on the train, got off at Imola and walked into a strangely vacant track. Turns out i chose the wrong weekend. So instead, I sat in the stands and watched Senna and Mansell rip around the track. In the glooming of the evening, I remember the glow from the discs popping as they braked for the hairpin. Memorable day.

It's kinda like the three breasted woman - a little confusing to look at but you cant help thinking about how much fun it would be to ride it
  15. crossing the Knight St bridge (motorway) early one morning. Recent work on expansion joints left the joint with a heavy (1") metal plate over the joint. Resulting in a minor bump in the road. Driving along slowly overtaking a semi who was on the inside lane. Noticed that ahead, some idiot is slowing down for the plate in the semi's lane. Like stopping. I glance up at the semi driver, he's texting. I was driving a POS automatic Chevy Cavalier at the time. Either I brake and watch the impending collision, or accelerate and get ahead of it. I was now by the semi's front wheel so floored it, blaring my horn. That must have woke the semi driver up. He just veers into my lane, clips me, sends me spinning, hits me again, bits of truck coming into the cab. Finally come to rest sideways to the road. Not sure how many times i'd spun. The entire car was crumpled - as in every panel was destroyed. I was somewhat transfixed. Get out, truck driver gets out. He's jackknifed. No sign of the fool that was stopping. Drove on to work. Got some high fives in the parking lot.

    help a brother out?

Sounds like a bunch of old gezzers speaking to an empty auditorium. Where's Mr Duggan? If an old geezer rants in an empty room, does he exist?
  17. Mate and I diving his V8 Commodore north with his ski boat in tow. Trundling down the forestry road - straight as an arrow for ages, speed builds up. Then suddenly its right into swithcbacks. Get through the first one, drifting through the second but all pear shaped for the next. I remember asking myself as we went off the edge of the cliff - I wonder whats behind that fence down there? Never found out. The trailer grounded and got hung up on the edge. Car is dangling by the tow ball. Clambered out and hiked down the the nearest farm house. It was Christmas eve, he was home, so got his tractor and dragged us off. Greatest holiday ever ensued.

Another Interesting Home Built Steel Boat

"Found it in the forest" - is that synonymous to "fell off the back of a truck"? It is nonetheless a veritable cornucopia of bits and bolts and solar panels... What kind of forest encourages that kind of wanton littering?

to me it looks like the 'sleeve' is decorative rather than structural. I'm guessing that there is a boltrope/track involved and there is a flap wrapping the mast and velcro-ed down the length. Why though? Parts of the luff look really squishy

Any guesses how the sail is attached to the mast? I am assuming that the masts are fixed in place and each sail hoisted on a halyard - what means is used to accomplish the 'wrap' around the mast? I am facing a similar problem
