To be fair though, they had more to communicate about in the round robins. There’s only so much you need to say when you’re being lapped.

Here you go. From about 1:30.

Still too much lift from those tiny wee foils.

You can say what you like about Dean, but at some point every teenager needs to stop writing their name on everything they own.

I’m not saying he’s wrong, but he wasn’t sitting on the stern. The helm position may have been crossing without Jimmy having a (very expensive) piece of them.

Do you think they’ve made it YELLOW to keep it secret?

It certainly looks inflatable, and there’s a massive leech gap.

I don’t know if we’ve seen any team doing them in that much breeze, have we?

I reckon they've designed it to operate under load, when the wings are straight. What I don't understand is why the starboard foil isn't the same. I'm assuming its an old one, to be updated later, if the new one proves sound. The new port foil is thicker, to the eye. Edit: Yellow lines please.

There mightn’t be a lot of testing going on today!

There's some pretty impressive stuff in here: 360 at 24:40 "JK" at 13:50 Light air lift offs at 2:30 and 23:00 Looks like some pre-start practice at 25:30 They seem to be able to hit an elevator button when they need to get that big wide ass out of the water. 25:30 is a good example but equally the lift offs. The jib seems less restrained in the tacks than it has before.

I heard that too. I don’t know, but here’s my guess. A boat sailing the course will find itself in positions/moment where they can efficiently sail on either tack, to the top mark, with the same number of manoeuvres, bouncing off the boundaries as they go. Those points could be found by drawing both hypothetical courses on the course, creating “intersections”. These intersections would change with wind shifts and wind speed. As the boat sails upwind they would find themselves at those intersections, where, if everything stayed the same, they could sail equally on either tack without adding unnecessary manoeuvres or short tacks. If you were sailing independently from other boats, they would be key decision making moments. But it’s only a guess

^Agreed, despite enthusiastic challenges from both the Mercury Bay and Tutukaka Yacht Clubs.

Kind of, I guess. The RNZYS hold the cup. Should ETNZ implode (again) or act in a way that upset the squadron (like taking the regatta to the Middle East) I suspect the RNZYS would have the ability to have another team represent them, most likely ending in abject failure. Edit: I’m unsure how The Royal Perth Yacht Club dealt with multiple challengers (from other yacht clubs I assume).

Jesus, really? Ben and Jimmy refer to that manoeuvre by the name of the guy who called it, before Jimmy executed it badly, and then Ben took his job? As some sort of piss take? If that’s how they treat their team mates....

Shall I watch all of it (again) or do you want to enlighten the group?
