    Maybe my memory is fading. But, I thought that the East Coast and Mid-West 50's at the end of the IOR era were called Gold Plater 50's. Then out here when Harlequin, Persuassion, Cipango, Deception et. al. were all racing they tried to do a class organization as well?

      Our west coast version was the fast 50's. I was crewing for Dave Meginity (sic) on Deception at the time. Alan Andrews designed Aldora and that quickly destroyed the fast 50 class, at least as far as the Sc 50's and the N/M50 were concerned.
