I do love it and the factors you lay out have very little to do with my love it. - Low turn out. : whether there are 8 boats in my class to race against or 16, we are still racing just as hard.

If he wants to win he pretty much has to show up Leg 9. Leg 9 is mandatory, meaning the score will count for everybody. I win leg 9 and Skidmark stays home, I'll pass him in the standing. On other not related matters, Raven will race tomorrow in the Hobelman, but that is it for the season (likely). Nice day out there today, wind went from 160 at 11Am to 240 by 2PM and velocity was anything between 2knt to 20knt. interesting day for the RC

This is going to get old quickly I suppose with everyone here in A3, but I took some pictures of Il Mostro sitting in Belmont Harbor last night, enjoy.

Looking for a mac ride this year. I hail from the other side of the pond, but no problems getting to or staying anywhere in Chicago on my own $. Experienced 25 year old with a 5th, 3rd, and shared 1st place finish in the j109 fleet onboard Merengue the last 3 macs. Grew up sailing and do lots of beer can events. I will be at SSYC for the Queens, so willing to meet and converse there too. Looking for a good competitive boat, nothing in the cruising division please. Prefer to communicate via phone, send me a PM with a # and I'll give you a ring.

Quite possibly the funniest things I have ever seen

Ah well, I guess we lost the bag overboard.

Let's give the Elinor Rigby a break this year. They are all new to racing, first trying steps. So rather than giving them crap, encourage them, talk to them next time you see them, make them stay. They made good strides forward in the NOOD

They aren't the only new ones in our fleet this year, but don't worry, everyone is happy to have them and supportive of their participation.

BUT, that photo is gold... pure gold, I tells ya.

Waukegan, Q.C., Mac, Harbor?

Who's fleeing the Chicago shores for the next few weekends?

We're doing both ways of the Waukegan and Queens. Looking forward to them both - of course. Haven't raced in two weeks, getting a little antsy.

What about the cash-mirror?

Can you leave a car parked on the street overnite in the park around Montrose?

No, it's a $60 dollar ticket - park closes at 11 I believe. I learned this the hard way last year.

Yep! They may have been DFL in a 31 boat fleet but they were out there for every race slugging it out and learning. Props to ER!

Headed out tonight to help with the Crew U practice race this evening - should be interesting seeing as the crib is reading 28 right now.

Be safe Mike.

Thanks Wally! We got lucky, it died out a ton and we ended up Jamming it so it was an easier night than it could have been.

When are we going to see you out there? - we need to drink some beers, soon.

What happened to Stan? What Happened to Raven?

I hope the owner of Raven, Stan, is doing OK. Sounds like the program is over for the season.

Hoping for the best.

Heard there were 14 Clowns on Circus last night.

Well, 14 on deck, 6 below, 2 in a tube dragged behind the boat. And 3 people just stayed on the dock and drank beer.

Seriously though, great time. Can't wait for this weekend.

Knowing the owner, he'll probably have that framed! Good guy with first bigger boat. Learning about what goes where when (bag/hounds/not ever)

Mad props for finishing every race, but can you please tell his tactician that doing the Captain Morgan pose behind the skipper the whole race is not face. They were rocking a mad wheely all weekend!

Once it filled in, it was a great day yesterday.

Oh, and I think the crew of Ocean wins the lampshade award for their antics at the party.

What happens in Waukegan....

No specifics mentioned.

Race back down was great, 7kts the whole way. First to the city and in the slip around 1 or 2pm after a harrowing packaged goods transfer from Vytis (think V70 Puma/container ship) off Wilmette for without their assistance we may have gone dry... Thank you so much.

Did anyone punch a waitress in the face? Better yet, sucker punch a Lobster, run and hide in the municiple bathrooms by the boat ramp, then get found by the local cops, get arrested, then try to make boatcall the next morning, only to get to the club too late, and miss your ride back, then presumably take the train home?

It's a long shot, but what the hell... And if can remember this event, you weren't drunk enough. And who ended up getting handcuffed out in front of the club, then soon released like a silent fart in church, for lack of intelligences. And was completely innocent ( for once).

You might want to add one in there - "Did anyone wake up at the home of one of the members of the Singles Club of Waukegan?"

Some of you may know my sister, Devon Kinney, from Scow, 36.7, and various other one-design/PHRF fleets. At the very least you know me, and I'd like to share her story - one all too familiar to us sailors.

On October 7, 2011, Devon turned 30 years old and was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. She subsequently went under the knife to remove cancer growth from her left cheek along with a lymph node. The scar was pretty large and left a dimple at the top of the incision. On a semi-monthly basis, she continues to undergo and heal from biopsies. In an effort to help those who will continue to suffer from melanoma, she decided to take part in a scientific study. To further aid in cancer research, education and wellness, she decided to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for the American Cancer Society. The marathon will take place on October 7, 2012, Devon's 31st birthday and one year anniversary as a cancer survivor. As a runner for the ACS,

Devon takes on the task of raising $1000 in donations. She needs to raise $250 by this Monday. Please click here to view her page and donate to my sister's stride for a cure. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Thanks to all who read and donate.

Wear the damn sunscreen.

Does anyone have an L30 Farryman 1978 transmission that Eleanor Rigby can buy? Poor Eleanor Rigby blew their tranny during the NOODS and has been shorelocked ever since.

If you have any leads or suggestions, I'm sure he'd greatly appreciate it. Please PM me and I'll relay info to them

So Friday night, July 6th we have the now traditional Fake Michigan City Race. 65 mile, round trip. multi-directional course. 7:30 start times. I think this is a great new addition to the schedule. Night time racing, course changes-a-go-go. Guaranteed to have sail changes around buoys, at night. Great Mac practice. No drag race across the lake to a single destination. See everyone out there & have a safe 4th.

Since you all seem to be chomping at the bit for a good story I’ll let you all know first hand

First and foremost – Eagle is a very well sailed and talented racing boat.

Imedi and Eagle were sailing down the start line in the prestart both on starboard tack, the race committee had just put the race into postponement. Eagle was to windward and in front of Imedi, no overlap. Eagle began to gybe in a quick fashion thinking she could clear Imedi to starboard. Half way through her gybe she realized she could not make the turn inside of Imedi and headed down. In the meantime Imedi had begun to head down to avoid Eagle’s gybe, Both boats went up, then both went down and it was too late. The collusion could not be avoided. It was a lapse in judgment for a mere second. No words were exchanged before or after the collusion. Everyone is alright. The boats will be back in the water and racing in time.
