Well, I'm not sure I should admit this but that boat was built by my long time former neighbor, yep, B. Lewis.  As a fellow sometime mocker I am getting a kick out of all your comments but I will come

Oh, come on.

It's a really pretty hull.

Lotta work to do (and money to spend) before it's a sailboat again, though

The fascinating question is why is the standing rigging and sails etc in excellent shape having been stored indoors while the hull is a TOTAL WRECK. It's not something we've exactly seen before, which, by the way, makes it a tip top contribution to MAOC. The must be a  story there.

It looks like a tree fell on it.

It proves what a hideous mistake fibreglass boats are, an evolutionary dead end! They don't even have the decency to die, leaving us surrounded by their remains, surviving on antibiotics and ventilators.

Ha! I thought that applied to unfinished homebilt projects? From the wording of the ad, I get the impression this was a boat that actually sailed, just unfortunately left outside thru the Maine winter (that was dumb). So the question not what percentage is complete, but rather what percentage has been destroyed (or neglected to oblivion).

More than 15%, it looks like

The next question: does one expect money to actually change hands over this boat? In which direction?

I still think it's a really pretty hull.

The efforts people go through to make really ugly boats. They must have an especially weird imagination.

So whatever happened with the statement...”If she looks right, she’s right.”

These “vessels” (and I use that term very, very, VERY loosely) are just wrong.

Ed, I have had six FG boats. All but one were used. I took good care of each one and passed it on to another owner in better shape than it was when I bought it. I fully appreciate the problem you allude to, but I have tried to be a good steward.

I was thinking keel-centerboard, some of the old production boats had a "long keel" or fin with a centerboard and draft in the 3 ~ 3 1/2 ft range with it up. The ad says "fin keel" so it's either a very steep shore or the owner doesn't actually know what it is

Nice to see one of the oldies getting used.

Probably the sand bar in Kaneohe Bay (windward side of Oahu).  And, yes, you can do that there with a fin keeled boat...

I admire the upper and lower stern cleats.   Either extra prevention for stern to berthing, or kneeling access to tie off to a bull-rail.

Now they just need to tack-weld a pair to the bow waterline to match...

Also, this should be cross posted to the Junk in the Trunk thread.

A clipper 60 from Alfa Yachts shipyard. This one has been sitting in Port Pin Rolland (France) for some years now, and can be yours for the meek sum of 75000 euros. Obviously comes with the classic "needs important restorations on hull, deck, insides, engine, electronics and electricity" note. Does it fit in the mandatory 85%?

It's a very interesting boat, with lots of appeal, but come on.

And a big-ass bow pulpit. GOt to work that into it some how. That pipe looks very rusty, maybe that can be described as "organic non-skid" to make it more salable? What percent complete is this project?

Nothing if the bond joint was done properly, it's a reasonable thing to do.

I don't think he needs to worry about parting with his unfinished baby at that price, though. Even $10K would be pushing it given the amount of boats that actually float out there.

Some apologetic comment that underlies the stigma of Bayliner. The kids grew up with boat envy and swore they would be successful enough to buy something swank.

There are 3 of those ugly ducklings up here, unfortunately all still floating...I should get a pic for the zombie thread tonight.

that owner is competing with give away prices to sell his pride and joy. These boats remind me of those old station wagons that had the extra glazing above the rear window, like some buses of the time.

The prose, the prose....

The "water  from the lake"  does not  "flow  easy" enough, to wash that from my eyes.

At first glance, I thought it was some goofy all terrain vehicle he was selling.   After deciphering, it is just a pile of junk from someone who learned to bend pipe and build a minor monstrosity to foist upon select gullible and weak minded members of the masses....

Also, how hard was it for the author to fight spellcheck the whole time they put that "ad" together?

- Stumbling

Maybe it's like some of the online scams where they want to weed out all but the near terminally stupid who are not deterred by mis-spellings, requests for banking info and crazy claims?

I'm guessing he's colour blind so spellcheck isn't very noticeable to him.
