This one is impressive. It has a patch of deck space aft, which helps. The other one had no outdoor space, none. A bit weird to be out on the ocean, yet your senses don't experience it locked inside a capsule.

Out of curiosity, I googled-up some prices on those things - they seem to be selling in the US for $1600 - $2400.  Well within dirtbag project range!

Good thing they all sold two weeks ago!

Conversion project dream that I had 20 years ago: Take a 20' container and make a hurricane-proof bar and put it on my dock. I grew out of that bad idea.

You are nuts.  Natty light at 1.50 a can off your dock, you'd make a killing.!

Last time I got delusional about navy surplus deals, it was “motorized causeway sections” that were going for next to nothing. (Plus costs of crane and trucking.) I had this idea to bolt down a couple of containers, (one for a burger bar, one for a surf shack) some astroturf and picnic tables and make a mobile concession that could turn up at whatever river beach was hot on a given day. Or just anchor 100 yards outside any local jurisdictional and make it a sail/paddle in affair. IIRC, the whole thing disassembles into small sections that can be handled by a forklift.

Fortunately, I didn’t have the cash on hand and would have had to sell the idea to a bank or investors (  ). And that was before weed was legalized.

Haha - remember the Redneck Riviera that used to gather around the corner - a pop-up tiki bar would've been a hit!

One of Bobby's has gone out on her own, good on her. She's 20 or 21, and smoking hot. I wish her luck.

She is motoring between marinas in a flat calm on a sheltered waterway in clear visibility.  Good for her if that makes her happy, but it has feck all to do with sailing.

Girl with Patreon account goes motoring on canal.

And through it all they seem to have considered keeping the camera rolling a high priority.

We had a terrible sudden thuderstorm supercell event here on Mobile Bay during the Dauphine Island race a few years ago. There were multiple fatalities and the thing that really irked me was that there were far too many boats that kept the cameras rolling instead of taking all precautions for preservation of life, limb and vessel!

How did they survive at sea?

God was protecting them, so that they would survive to pour a fortune into a boatyard's bank account.

As the good book says, blessed be those who do squander an inheritance on chasing rotten timber, for many a shipwright's wages may be paid.

Oh yeah, I know the numbers. I really meant everything as a conglomerate. A very close friend of my little sisters shot to fame with effectively the business model that this girl has tried to copy. Except unlike this girl she had millions of subs, not a few thousand.

She spent her time trying on Bikini's on video, trying Make-up, doing work-outs etc and is on a few different websites farming for cash. She sowed her seeds with the soft-core porn youtube videos and instagram snaps, but reaped a cash crop of patreon subs. Hilariously she went all "healthy at all sizes" a little while ago in the hopes to sell bikini's to women other than beach-goers and went from 1.5 mil subs to 0.75 mil.

But then, compared to someone else who I used to see hooping a lot, she made nothing. This one farmed the onlyfans crop and was an OG. Which surprised me because she wasn't hot at all. But I guess people got into that thickness and she became a big insta name. Phat ass pics paid millions compared to the pittance these Patreon folks are making.

Great Zarquon, why on earth did I click on that?  I barely skimmed the damned thing, and still I feel vaguely disgusted with myself.

I mean, sure, there's the eye catching candy thumbnail.  But did I really think they might approach the project of circumnavigation with more humility and insight than a "scream" emoji?

Was I hoping against hope to have the worst stereotypes of dizzy blondes refuted, or is some dark corner of my psyche secretly glad to have them confirmed, and now I feel guilty about it?

Did I really think there wouldn't be a man-bun?  Of course there was a man bun.

And here's the worst part.  At the end, up pops a link to episode 2, in which they announce their plan to Actually Go Sailing.  And Dog help me, I was tempted to click on it.  Why?  Morbid curiosity?  Schadenfreude?  I don't really want them to come to any harm.  I know full well that they'll just sail around for an hour in flat seas and 10 knots, then rave breathlessly about their big adventure.
And I'll kick myself for watching.

I could have lived a full rich happy life blissfully unaware that these two even existed.  But now their thumbnails are going to keep popping up in my youtube suggestions for at least another month.

It's good to get this info about Youtube. We watch regularly for PBS news, etc. But also travel, food, architecture, interesting places, etc. I'm not dead down there, but once somebody starts showing some skin for no reason other than to create a soft porn thumb, I'm turned off. There's nothing wrong with some skin if it makes sense in a story but I find it's a warning: This is junk, the maker has no skill no anything to do with the subject you seek. This goes especially for Sailing Youtube. I must be doing ok because I don't get these sailing skin thumbs.

I find it great for how-tos ranging from all sorts of mechanical repairs to guitar playing, cooking, travel etc. But if you look at the sailing vlogs - even some of the best ones - you see an undeniable link between higher click rates and an attractive female in the thumb. There appear to be other cues that also consistently generate more clicks. Titles about how much it costs to cruise, which boat should we buy...and now couple after couple seem to flog those titles in the same way that online vendors buy their google adwords. I guess if you are trying to make a living by posting your cruising life on the internet, and by adding a little skin to your thumbs you increase your traffic 50 to 100%, then you are very likely to do it.

Now I feel guilty too, having watched the last 2 minutes of EP 2 (their first sail) - she was drinking from a champagne bottle while he peed off the stern - and then 2 minutes of Ep 3 as they gave a "boat tour."  I made the original post because they seemed to be poster children of the worst of would-be circum-vloggers, and I was making fun. They ARE the worst. But now I feel utter pity for them. They are in so far over their heads, it's just incredible. Not only do they know nothing, they don't 'suspect nuthin.'  More to be pitied than censured.

However, I doubt that even the Campbells would be cruel enough to disfigure a hull like that.

Ah.

Your mention of a notorious act of vengence had me thinking of Glencoe, and assuming you are one of the vast Campbell clan - hence the MacDonald reference.

Whilst being a few generations removed from Scotland, Scots make up almost all of my ancestry - including both sides of many altercations such as Glencoe. Funny how once folks got away from Scotland, the matters of whose great grandfather did what to who, or which brand of sky fairy you align to,  seemed to vanish.

I guessed that was your assumption. :)

But while Glencoe was one of the biggest and best-known massacres, it achieved notoriety largely because it was:

  1. one of the last major instances of the especially-deplored crime of "murder under trust", and
  2. it was ordered by the King, and
  3. the King then rewarded the key murderers

That combination of factors gave it heightened significance.

But there was plenty of other slaughter in the Highlands, just not as notorious.  The pervasive grabbing of land and cattle was not a peaceful process.

Once out of Scotland, they were no longer fighting each other for and cattle, and instead faced common opponents.  Atheists often misunderstand religion as a primary factor in disputes, whereas it many cases its function was more as a rallying call in more prosaic disputes.

I've previously thought that Robert Campbell is somewhat unjustly treated. Normally history is written by the victors, and in this case he was following orders from the king, and they won and saw the end of the Jacobite uprising. He also apparently tried to spare some of the victims, only to have others step in and kill them anyway. Yet he is named a murderer.

I do agree that it was not the only time that the Campbells of Argyle took any excuse to enlarge their herds and holdings... But they were certainly not the only clan to do so. And that religion is a convenient and noble sounding excuse for more self serving pursuits.
