Jared: how come you never do that to me?

so Donnie grabs him by his nut sack.

I just saw a post on social media in which a MAGAt opined the Democrats were the ones responsible for mistaking the significance of Garth Brooks’ jersey choice in an attempt to make Republicans look bad.

Those Deviously Dastardly Democrats!

I suppose BravoBravo would rather we be lectured on:

Morals by serial philanderers and folks with a wide stance in the bathroom

Human Biology by creationists who dismiss actual science

Human Rights by folks who advocate torture

and

Economics by folks who continue to insist "trickle-down" works.

I get it,  Democratic Socilaism is what made America great with free stuff added.

There was and is NO FREE STUFF.  Taxes pay-paid for everything.  And, use your spell check, it's Socialism.

Are you willing to give up your medicare and social security, after paying into them your entire working life?

Would you prefer "free stuff" go to the less fortunate or to the more fortunate?

As BB pointed out there is no free stuff (unless maybe you're an illegal). It's a spectrum and we just argue over what is the most beneficial place on the spectrum. The meme falsely suggests that what is now being offered as Democratic Socialism is what built the nation. What is being offered now as Democratic Socialism with it's “free stuff” represents a point on the spectrum that has never been tried in America.

But it has been 'tried' in almost all advanced economies, in most cases decades ago and it works. The US can't decide what it wants to be - a modern advanced country or a fall back to the Golden Age of 1910. Trump isn't the one to lead in either direction, neither is Biden. Sanders would try but it appears he willl not get the chance.

I know there is no free stuff.  That is why I put those quotation marks around the words, when I asked you how you thought government largesse should be allocated.

There was a boom time after WWII, during which the middle-class became a thing.  That is now gone.  The money doesn't "trickle down", it flows up.

Much of what made America great back then is viewed with derision as being socialist.  That word is hurled as an epithet.

The money-class enjoys the privatization of profits and the socialization of losses.

Here is a perspective I doubt you will read.

What's being sold as Democratic Socialism today in no way constitutes a return to the conditions that gave rise to the post WW2 middle class expansion. Such a return would require a move to the right.

No, they're pretending to push back to the Golden Age with he-man free-man rejecting Free Stuff, except with socialism for corporations which of course gets funneled into millionaires' pockets.

Free Stuff for the wealthy! would be an honest slogan for the Trumpublican Party. A more honest slogan would be "a short miserable debt-ridden life for your kids, luxury and leisure and longer life for the 1%"

Bernie is bringing a much milder revolution than the one(s) who come after him will bring. If you look at economic statistics, the USA is not far from pitchfork & torch time.

Apparently few here can remember the riots and burning cities of the mid & late 60's.

That was over racial oppression but the next one will be over economic oppression.

The peasants will only take so much and then they become revolting.

News: 8.3 Billion Dollars say the US Senate and Trump himself think Democratic Socialism is the right way to tackle the Coronavirus. Viva la Revolutión!

Frankly I'm surprised they didn't think another tax break for the 1% would kill off the virus.

That's pretty damn close to V Fib which is much more lethal!

Very true. As my cardiologist said "Afib won't kill you, but the stroke might"

A little cardioversion and the A Fib is under control.  Get on some meds or worse comes to worse, you have a little cardiac ablation and it usually will go away.

You're in V Fib and somebody isn't ready with a defibrillator, you're gonna die.  And even if you do get shocked, once, twice, thrice, you still have a good chance of dying.

I'll take the former over the latter any day

I worked in enough ERs and trauma centers to see both scenarios many times.  We shocked one dude so many times, his chest was smoking.  OK, we knew he was good and dead after a few shocks, so it became a teaching moment.
