Source: NY TIMES

Just breaking on the NYT site.

Newly obtained tax information reveals that from 1985 to 1994, Donald J. Trump’s businesses were in far bleaker condition than was previously known.

The list of bankrupted contractors he has left in his wake is legendary. He does not pay.  He sues/countersues to drag claims out to push the small companies to the breaking point. trump is a criminal

We're not. We're measuring him by his honesty and this is an example that he was dishonest regarding his claimed business acumen. Honesty is important to us. Clearly not to folks like you.

And nobody has sued to take my name off their building either. And I’m very unlikely to go down in history as the worst person ever to hold my job.

We don’t have Donald Trump’s actual tax returns. Rather we obtained printouts from his official I.R.S. tax transcripts, with figures from his federal 1040, for 85 to 94. Here’s an explanation of our sourcing ->

Donald Trump paid no income taxes in 8 of the 10 years we examined. His losses were so big that in 1991 they accounted for fully 1% of all business losses declared that year by individual American taxpayers. w @russbuettner https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/05/07/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-returns.html

I hope so but someone smarter will intervene.  The NYT described their methodology well and there's nothing for Trump to do but pout, which I will admit he does well.  If this garners too much attention, war in the ME?

I'm reminded of a courtroom scene in Liar Liar where Jim Carrey objects and the judge asks him on what grounds, because it's making my case look bad.

Everyone know that Atlantic city almost destroyed him. Only it didn't.  This is gonna make it harder for those busy Dees in congress to get his real returns.

I'm curious about something. Assume the IRS dose release some information to congress. If there is no fraud or crime in the returns, no pay off from Putin, can congress discuss them publicly? Would a leak of a citizens private tax return in that case be a crime?

Oh it gets better......... the truth might come out sooner than expected:

Huffpost:

New York Senate On Verge Of Passing Bill Allowing Release Of Trump Tax Returns

The financial information the president files in his home state should be similar to that on his federal returns.

The New York state Senate is set to take up a bill on Wednesday that would allow state officials to release President Donald Trump’s state tax returns to Congress, and the lawmaker behind the legislation is confident it has the votes to pass.

State Sen. Brad Hoylman’s bill would allow the New York tax commissioner to release any state tax return requested by one of three congressional committees for any “specific and legitimate legislative purpose.”

In other words, Congress could finally get Trump’s tax returns.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin denied a request from House Democrats this week to share six years worth of Trump’s federal personal and business tax returns. His state returns should contain similar financial information. Trump is the first president since Richard Nixon not to release his personal tax returns.

A spokesperson for Hoylman told HuffPost on Tuesday that the Manhattan Democrat thinks the bill has enough votes in the state Senate to pass on Wednesday.

New York is home to the president’s famous Trump Tower, where he used to live and run his business, the Trump Organization. The tower is also where his son Donald Trump Jr., son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort met with a Russian lawyer in June 2016. The meeting raised significant questions about whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in an effort to sway voters in the U.S. presidential election.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration’s refusal to abide by a law that says Congress can have access to any private federal tax information it wants will likely end up in the courts.

The White House did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment on the New York bill.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), a frequent Trump critic, said in April that he would support the state Senate’s efforts to help Congress view Trump’s tax returns.

The state Assembly, which is the other house in the New York Legislature, has been more measured in its response to the bill. Assembly spokesman Mike Whyland told The New York Times that members “understand the issue” and plan to discuss the bill “in the near future.” That said, the legislation has a relatively strong chance of passing in the Assembly, which has a huge Democratic majority.

Of the shallow, materialistic categories you provided - none. Nor am I interested in even competing in those categories against anyone.

Of categories that matter, I reckon I do pretty well against both Trump and yourself. Friends, family, education, career, personal reputation, how I spend my (copious) free time, and who I spend it with. Categories that matter. First wife, children that want to spend time with me, house near the beach and education/career achievements that let me work out of it instead of humping it into town every day.

Hell, I don't need to compensate by identifying with crap trucklettes and unwanted aircraft because my life sucks so hard I think a mini-cannon is something to make others jealous. #winning

Very Rich Russians (VRRs) saved his ass. Investments, buying properties at inflated prices, and many other deals, some of which were legal.

VRRs became rich, and remain rich, courtesy of Vladimir Putin, the Very Richest Rich Russian. If they piss him off, they become poor and/or dead. If he instructs them to save some failing crooked New York clown's bacon, and park a lot of money safely in the process, they do exactly that.

I bet Vlad was just as surprised as Donald when the crooked clown became President.

Score one for whistleblowers.

If someone at the IRS has legal access to my return, that doesn't make it legal for that person to turn it over to a newspaper.
